Shri G.M. Eswara Rao has taken charge as Principal Chief Security Commissioner, South Central Railway. He belongs to the 1989 batch of civil services and joined Railway Protection Force in the rank of Assistant Security Commissioner and rose to the rank of Inspector General (IG). He assumed the charge of Principal Chief Security Commissioner of South Central Railway.
Earlier, Shri G.M. Eswara Rao worked at several important divisions during his long career. He worked as Divisional Security Commissioner, Hubli from 1996 to 1999, Divisional Security Commissioner, Vijayawada from 1999 to 2004, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, Chennai from 2005 to 2009, Addl. Chief Security Commissioner, Eastern Railway from 2012 to 2014. He also headed the RPF Training Centre of SCR as DIG-Principal from 2014 to 2015. He was working as Additional Chief Security Commissioner from 2015 till assuming the charge as Principal Chief Security Commissioner, South Central Railway.
Shri Eswara Rao dealt with many difficult situations such as controlling organized crime at Railway Workshop, Rayanpadu. He received high appreciation for meticulous security arrangements during Godavari Pushkarams in 2015 as well as Krishna Pushkarams in 2016 as Additional Chief Security Commissioner. His initiative in establishing CCTVs, Bomb Detection Units, X-ray baggage scanners and various other disaster management equipment to effectively deal with changing security scenario for Chennai Division is first of its kind in Indian Railways.
Shri. Eswara Rao has been awarded Director General’s Insignia & Commendation in 2000 & 2017, Hon’ble Minister for Railways award in 2007 as well as prestigious Indian Police Medal in 2014 for his outstanding professional service.
