Railway Protection Force personnel, Vijayawada Division nabbed two criminals on 8th January, 2019 and recovered Gold, Silver and Cash worth Rs. 5 crore. Going into the details, Shri S.R.Gandhi, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, Vijayawada Division received information from Joint Commissioner of Police, Chennai regarding a two member gang who committed theft of huge quantity of gold, silver and currency from the house of a jewellery shop owner at Chennai. Based on the Mobile phone tracking, the movement of criminals was suspected in 3 different trains and two were ruled out by RPF teams after conducting checks at Gudur. Finally, it was concluded that the gang was moving in Train No. 12651, Madurai – Hazrat Nizamuddin, Sampark Kranti Express.

The RPF special team in plain clothes were divided into 3 sub teams and boarded at Tenali. The teams started meticulous checks to cover all the coaches swiftly. one of the team spotted the suspect in rear general class coach. His photograph was clicked and shared with Joint Commissioner of Police, Chennai for confirmation of the suspect. Meanwhile, the special team carefully followed the criminals up to Vijayawada station. Another team was kept in readiness at Vijayawada which apprehended the criminals and with recovered the stolen property.

Total value of recovery is Rs. 5 crore which included (13.5 kg gold, 67 kg silver and cash Rs. 40, 000/-) which is biggest recovery made by Railway Protection Force in Indian Railways
