Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, Chairman Railway Board, New Delhi on a Maiden visit toInspect Tirupati Railway Station. National Tri-Colour Hoisted, “Rail Sathi” Mobile App Launched

CRB Says, Wi-Fi facility to be commissioned at 6100 Stations across Indian Railways

Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, Chairman Railway Board, New Delhi made his maiden visit to Tirupati Railway Station today i.e., 17th January, 2019. He was accompanied by Shri Vijay Pratap Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal Division and other Railway Officials.

The Chairman Railway Board (CRB) made an extensive inspection of Tirupati Railway Station and took a firsthand account of the developmental works in progress at this major pilgrim rail hub o­n Indian Railways. He reviewed the plans concerning upgradation of passenger facilities and amenities at the station and inspected the works for the Premium Executive Air-Conditioned Lounge nearing completion o­n platform no. 1 at Tirupati Railway Station. Addressing the Media, he stated that this executive lounge would be matching the best world class5-star standards. He also had a word of praise for the people of Tirupati whose co-operation in maintaining cleanliness at the railway station, has ensured that the station is accorded the second rank amongst all major stations o­n Indian Railways for best cleanliness, by an independent third party audit conducted by Quality Council of India. Two more platforms will be coming up at Tirupati Railway Station. Tiruchannur Railway Station is also being developed as a major rail hub to cater to Tirupati area, he informed. Construction work for Road under Bridge at Rayalacheruvu Level Crossing in Tirupati city is going to be taken up soon, with both the Railways and the State Government processing the execution works.

Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav stated thatthe ambitious station re-development plan for a world class ultra-modern Tirupati Railway Station,is set to take off at a cost of around Rs. 500 crore. To enable execute this project, the maintenance pit lines at Tirupati Railway Station are being shifted to Tirupati West, at a cost of around Rs. 100 crore. Within 2 years, Tirupati Railway Station is going to undergo a huge change to the latest standards so as to meet the expectations of the rail users, he added.

Speaking o­n the digital initiatives being undertaken by Indian Railways, Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav informed that WiFi facility will be provided at 6100 Railway Stations o­n the rail network.

Massive Indian National Flag hoisted at Tirupati Railway Station:

Coinciding with the visit of the Chairman Railway Board, a massive 20 feet x 30 feet size Indian National Flag was hoisted o­n a 100 feet pole at North side of Tirupati Railway Station. Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav was joined byMs. M. Vennela, Trackwoman, Pakala; Ms. M.Avanthi, Pointswoman, Tirupati and Ms. R.N.Malleshwari, Woman Head Constable, Railway Protection Force, Tirupati to hoist the Tri-Colour. Shri Vara Prasad, Ex-Member of Parliament, Shri Narsimha Yadav, Chairman, Tirupati Urban Development Authority,
Shri Vijay Pratap Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal Division, SCR were also present. A huge gathering of rail travelers and common public joined to witness the Tri-Colour fluttering majestically, renewing the spirit of o­neness and a patriotic fervor amongst all.

The Ministry of Railways has decided to provide the monumental National Flag o­n the premises of 75 of the busiest railway stations in the country including five stations - Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Kacheguda, Vijayawada and Tirupati o­n South Central Railway. Accordingly, the National Tri-colour has been hoisted at all the five identified busy railway stations o­n the Zone. With a footfall of around 5 lakh rail users each day at these five railway stations, the initiative to hoist the majestic national flagis bound to rekindle the spirit of Nationalism and instill a sense of pride amongstthe people.

Rail Sathi – Mobile Application for Indoor Navigation in Tirupati Railway Station Launched:

Continuing with its efforts to enhance the standards of passenger facilities and convenience, the Guntakal Division of SCR took a big step forward in tune with the Digital India mission, to launch a very unique and user friendly Mobile App – Rail Sathi, to provide comprehensive end to end travel assistance at Tirupati Railway Station. This mobile app for indoor navigation in Tirupati Railway Station will also provide information to passengers right from their home till boarding the train or availing any other service needed at the station. The App was launched at the hands of Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, Chairman Railway Board.

            The Rail Sathi – Mobile App provides for navigation from home to railway station, navigates guidance to all station amenities, train arrivals/departures, train live location,notifications about train delays/cancellations, status of PNR (Reserved) tickets, seat upgrades, coach sequence of trains,wheel chair booking, women helpline, child helpline, feedback/complaint mechanism, medical emergency numbers, important railway contact numbers etc. This innovative app is a brain child of the Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal Division and co-created with the technology partner - thingTronics Innovations Pvt. Ltd.
