Signaling System of Indian Railways symbol of Trust - Shri N. Kashinath, Director General (S&T) Railway Board, New Delhi Passing Out function of 25 IRSSE Probationary Officers-2016 batch

Shri N. Kashinath, Director General (Signal Engineering & Telecommunications), Railway Board, New Delhi stressed that Signaling system of Indian Railways is symbol of Trust. He stated that Signaling and Telecommunications is the most happening department o­n Indian Railways. The standards of training provided at IRISET go a long way in shaping the competence of the Officers and Staff involved in these duties, since Signaling is not a discipline taught in the Colleges. He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the ‘Passing Out’ function of 25 Indian Railways Service of Signal Engineering (IRSSE) Probationary Officers-2016 batch held at the Indian Railways Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications (IRISET), Secunderabad premises today i.e.
24th January, 2019.

 Shri N.Kashinath stated that Signal & Telecommunication is a fast evolving profession o­n Indian Railways and this set of Officers are amongst the most important for the organization. He cautioned the newly passed out batch of Officers that, o­nce they join the field for work after finishing their training, results are expected from them. Shri Kashinath later presented the Passing Out certificates and mementoes to the Probationary Officers who have successfully completed
78 weeks of training.

Earlier, Shri Pradeep Kumar, Director, National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR) spoke of the importance that Telecommunications holds o­n the Railways, covering all aspects including safety, security, administration, operations etc. He urged upon to avoid shortcuts in day to day working. Acquiring knowledge from all sources throughout the career will be very useful, he added. While addressing the function Shri Arvind Mittal, Principal Executive Director (Signal) Railway Board congratulated the Probationers for successful completion of training and called upon young officers to work with dedication and bring laurels for the organization.

Shri L.P. Sinha, Director, IRISET welcomed the gathering and detailed the achievements of this premier organization, which holds worldwide reputation. A souvenir, “Pratibhimb”, was released o­n the occasion. Shri P.Venkata Ramana, Dean, IRISET presented the Vote of Thanks.


Indian Railway Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications (IRISET) was established in 1957. IRISET, a Premier Training Institute, imparts training to officers and supervisors in the specialized area of Signalling and Telecommunications o­n Indian Railways.  IRISET is equipped with state-of-art modern equipments of Electronic Interlocking, TPWS, Axle Counter etc. The Institute imparts training o­n Modern Signaling subjects like Electronic Interlocking, Train Protection Warning System etc.
