Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Hon’ble Vice President of India Inaugurates Upgraded Passenger Amenities at Tirupati Railway Station


Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Hon’ble Vice President of India inaugurated the upgraded passenger amenities at Tirupati Railway Station (via Remote Video Link at a function held at Nellore Railway Station) today i.e., 21st February, 2019. Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Railways and Coal was also present o­n the occasion.

Smt. M. Sugunamma, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Tirupati Constituency attended the function as chief guest at Tirupati Railway Station. Shri Vijay Pratap Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal Division, a host of public representatives also participated in the function.

Later, Smt. M. Sugunamma, Hon’ble MLA accompanied by Shri Vijay Pratap Singh, DRM, Guntakal Division visited Premium Lounge o­n platform No. 1 and Open waiting halls o­n platform no. 4/5. Shri Prashanth Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Guntakal Division,
K. Satya Narayana, Station Director, Tirupati accompanied.

Tirupati Railway Station has been provided upgraded passenger amenities with an expenditure of Rs. 11 Crores. 24 Railway stations over Indian Railways have been identified for improvement of passenger amenities in association with the Ministry of Tourism o­n 50-50 cost sharing basis. Considering the diverse nature of passenger traffic coming from across the nation a Premium Lounge has been provided with state-of-the-art facilities, which includes High Speed Internet facility, comfortable and luxurious seating which can accommodate 50 members at a time. Service of cold and hot beverages, newspapers, magazines, television, instrumental music options are also available in the premium lounge. A unique concept of open waiting hall o­n platform no. 4/5 has been developed in the area of 1200 sq.mts along with LED TVs and WiFi facility. A new and modern Cloak Room with an area of 100 sq.mts is also provided o­n the platform no. 1.
