Shri Ravindra Gupta, General Manager, South Central Railway undertook a comprehensive review of Safety on Zone for the fiscal ending April 2015-March 2016. The Divisional Railway Managers (DRM’s) of all the 6 Divisions on SCR viz., Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal and Nanded attended the high level Safety Review Meeting through Video Conference held today i.e., 1st April, 2016 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad.
General Manager took Division wise position of Safety records including minor incidents and issued guidelines to overcome them. He advised DRMs to analyze the cause of unusual minutely and come up with solutions/procedures to mitigate them said Shri Ravindra Gupta. He took stock of incidents, unsafe conditions (like rail breakages, weld failures, jerk messages, brake binding, smoke/fire, over head equipment failures), other irregularities etc. He also advised to conduct Breath analyzer tests earnestly and conduct safety seminars regularly for the staff involved in train operations.
The General Manager has directed DRM’s to closely monitor the progress of work on elimination of the Unmanned Railway Level Crossings (UMLCs) and all efforts shall be put to achieve the set targets. During the year 2015-16, SCR has eliminated 68 UMLC’s as against a target of 48. He also cautioned to observe all precautions during summer and plan in advance for the coming monsoon season.
Earlier, Shri Ravindra Gupta presented a cash award to Deputy Station Superintendent of Donakonda Station on Guntur Division, Shri Sk. Abdul Jabbar, for his devotion to duty in ensuring safety of train movement. Abdul Jabbar while on duty on 23rd March, 2016 noticed a hot axle of a Goods Train and stopped the train. He immediately acted upon the same, thereby averting any possible unsafe conditions.
Shri Ravindra Gupta also presented a cash award to Shri T. Ratna Kumar, Gateman working at Level Crossing Gate No. 319A on Vijayawada Division noticed unusual sound while passing of Train No. 15905 Kannyakumari – Dibrugarh Vivek Express and informed to the concerned. Later it was found that a ‘Bolster Spring’ was missing on run which was duly rectified.
The DRM’s appraised the General Manager on the details pertaining to safety measures taken on their respective Divisions. Shri S.P Sahu, Chief Safety Officer, SCR made a Power Point Presentation on Safety. Shri A.K. Gupta, Additional General Manager, Shri S.N. Singh, Principal Chief Engineer, Shri N. Madhusudhana Rao, Chief Operations Manager, Shri M.P. Reddy, Chief Commercial Manager, Shri M.S. Mahaboob Ali, Chief Signal & Telecommunications Engineer were amongst the Officials present.
