Joint Ventures with State Governments enable complete Rail Projects expeditiously -Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister for Railways in his address at CII Meet at Hyderabad


 

Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister for Railways made a strong pitch for Indian Railways going into Joint Ventures (JVs) with State Government which enables expeditious completion of rail projects. He stated that the Indian Railways has entered into Joint Venture agreement with 17 State Governments for Rail Infrastructure development with plans to join hands with other State Governments too. This will turn the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister's to reality, he added. The Minister was delivering the Inaugural address at the International Conference o­n Economic Disruption organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Hyderabad today i.e., 25th March, 2017.

Elaborating o­n the growth path of Indian Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu stated that the Investment o­n Indian Railways has grown to 3,50,000 Crore. There is a lot of scope o­n Indian Railways for Infrastructure Development, he said and highlighted the point that 60% of traffic o­n its network is presently being handled by 16% of Railway lines which convey the uneven distribution. The plan for growth of Indian Railways envisages laying of new Railway lines at the rate of 100 kms per day as against the present rate of 10 Kms per day, the Minister added.
