Work Force made SCR as the best performing Zone - Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager at 62nd Railway Week Celebrations


Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, South Central Railway complimented the work force for achieving best results during the financial year 2016-17, overcoming challenges and earning the distinction as best performing Zone o­n Indian Railways. It is their duty mindedness and commitment, which led to SCR attaining significant results, he said. The General Manager was addressing a big gathering of Railway Officers, Staff and their family members at the 62nd Railway Week Zonal Level Celebrations held today i.e., 11th April, 2017 at Rail Kalarang, Bhoiguda, Secunderabad to commemorate the first train run o­n Indian soil.

Elaborating o­n the attainments of SCR in the financial year 2016-17, Shir Vinod Kumar Yadav stated that SCR has made a mark at the National Level amongst all Zones o­n Indian Railways by bagging All India Performance Efficiency Shields in five disciplines, the highest amongst all Zones. The General Manager stressed o­n the role of Track Men who patrol the entire network of the Zone and the Loco Pilots who safely carry the passengers to their destinations and stated that it is the employees who are the core strength of the organization. Making a strong pitch for conservation of water and ecology, Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav informed that SCR is undertaking various steps towards water conservation. He added that Secunderabad railway station is amongst five stations o­n Indian Railways chosen for development as Green Stations.

The Zone has achieved apportioned earnings of Rs.12,100 crs. In Freight segment, SCR carried 96.83 Million Tonnes which generated revenue of Rs. 7,934.7 crs. In the passenger segment, SCR carried 375.8 millions of passengers, generating Rs. 3,564.8 crs. Continuing the stress o­n elimination of Unmanned Level Crossings (UMLCs), 149 UMLCs were removed during the last financial year. Yet another endeavor in this aspect is the completion of 79 Road Over/ Road Under Bridges and Limited Height Subways during the year. The General Manager exhorted the Railway personnel to continue to show the same zeal in their works sphere, in the future too.

Later, the General Manager presented 278 individual awards for meritorious work done during the year 2016-17 to Officers and Staff of SCR. He also gave away 32 Efficiency Shields to various Departments & Divisions and 32 Group Awards. The culmination of the glittering function was marked by presentation of the General Manager’s efficiency shield for over all best performance to Secunderabad & Guntakal Divisions, who bagged it jointly. Shri Ashesh Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division and Shri Amitabh Ojha, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal Division received the shield along with their team of Officers.

Earlier, Shri A.K. Gupta, Addl. General Manager, SCR in his welcome address stated that SCR is known for its image as o­ne of the best performing Zones o­n Indian Railways. It is the excellent work culture and the dynamism of the leadership which is the reason for the same, he added. Shri M.Umashankar Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer proposed the vote of thanks. Shri Neelakanta Reddy, Secretary to General Manager and Shri A.K.Singh, Secretary, Public Grievances conducted the proceedings.
