AN ENDEAVOUR TO POSITIVE HEALTH

Guntur Division Medical department was established on 1st April,2003 with Heath Units at Nadikudi(NDKD), Nandyal(NDL) & Donakonda(DKD) with Divisional Hospital at Guntur(GNT).Divisional Hospital at GNT, was an upgraded Health Unit with three Doctors including Sr.DMO in-charge and one lady doctor.


Divisional Hospital attends to Primary Care and Industrial Health i.e., attending to sick employees and Medical Examination of employees/candidates. On an average about 5,500 patients are treated at Railway Hospital/Health Units.

 

The following Hospitals have been recognized for the purpose indicated against each:

SECONDARY CARE

St. Joseph General Hospital

Speciality:All Specialities.

2.

TERTIARY CARE

Lalitha Super Specialty Hospital

Speciality:Cardiology, Cardio-thoracic Surgery,Neurology, Neuro-Surgery and Traumotology care.

3.

LAB INVESTIGATION

For Ultrasound Scan, C.T. Scan and MRI Scan, MAA Diagnostic center, Guntur was recognized.


 

Patient care is better met with specialist and super specialist doctors with latest procedures like Angiogram, PTCA, Bypass surgery and Thrombolytic therapy.

Health units are also delivering the Primary Health Care & Industrial health and directing the patients to Railway Hospital, Guntur for secondary and tertiary care.

PREVENTIVE HEALTH:
Immunization:
By registering all the children under 05 years through door to door survey by Nursing Sisters, immunization is being advised and executed.A total of 550 and 448 immunisations were done during 2009-10 & 2010-11.

Vector & Rodent Control Measures:

To combat mosquito, Fly menace & rat menace, insecticides, larvicides & rodenticides are being sprayed in the breeding places as pest control measures.

All Quarters are sprayed with Malathian as a residual spray to prevent Dengue / DHF epidemic.

HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAMS:
In collaboration with South Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation,Guntur, Eye check up camps and Dental Check up camps were organized.

On the occasion of World Women’s Day, a health check up camp exclusively for women was organized during which some ladies were diagnosed with diseases which they were unaware about.
De-addiction camps are being regularly organized especially for Running/ Safety category staff.
Awareness/Detection camp for Diabetes was orgniased at Guntur Railway station for the travelling public and DRM Office for the staff.
Special camps were also orgnaised on the occasion of
World Cancer Day.

Chief Health Inspector, Division and four health Inspectors collect water samples for Bacteriological analysis and Residual Chlorine content for ensuing potable water supply at the stations/colonies.Suitable remedial action is taken on the basis of these analysis reports.

 

Samples are collected from food establishments of platforms/pantry cars to check food adulteration. 
Mechanized cleaning being introduced.

OUTSOURCING: Solid waste garbage disposal, cleanliness of Booking Office area, monsoon fogging, etc., are being done through outsourcing.

Guntur, Nandyal and Donakonda Railway stations and colonies sanitation is being attended by Medical department with the supervision of Health Inspectors.

Sanitation is ensured by fixing the Safaiwalas with nominated places. Protective gears like Uniforms, Caps, Masks, Plastic Aprons, Hand gloves and shoes have been provided for all the Safaiwalas in the division.
