About us:

ØMedical Department provides Curative, Preventive and Promotive Health care Services to Railway employees and retired employees and their dependent family members.

ØMedical Department provides Clean, Hygienic environment to the rail commuters at Stations & Colonies.

ØEnsures Monitoring of supply of Potable water to the residents of Railway Colony & Passengers at Stations.

ØEnsures quality of food supplied to the passengers at Stations & in Trains.

ØConducts Medical Examination to RRB Candidates, Periodical Medical Examination to the Serving Employees, Medical Boards and AEMG.

ØPromptly provides emergency medical services during Train Accidents or in any emergency situations.

Medical department of the Indian Railways is committed to:

vProvide quality health care service;

vConstant up gradation of curative services in tune with the latest technologies and within the resources available to railways;

vProvide regular C.M.E. (continuing medical education) inputs to medical and paramedical staff;

vCombine efficiency with courtesy and empathy;

vEstablish effective base for disease prevention and health promotion services including industrial health;

vMeet the administrative needs of the Indian Railways;

vWork for the acceptance of a small family norm by the staff;

vEnsure adequate physical standard of the employees at recruitment and during their periodical check up;

vProvide and maintain accident relief medical equipment, including first aid boxes, to give prompt relief to passengers injured in railway accidents;

vAttend the passengers injured or taken seriously ill in trains or at railway stations, on payment, under certain circumstances;

vProvide medical facilities at par with serving employees to those retired railway employees who have opted to become members of the Retired Employees’ Liberalised Health Scheme 1997; and

vAdminister medical treatment to outsiders, on payment, under certain circumstances.

ØServices of Health Inspector Units:

ØProviding  Public Health Services to the Rail Users to with the true spirit of the proverb ‘Prevention is better than Cure” in the form of imparting Health educating to the Railway community, Regular monitoring the supply of potable  water by conducting Residual Chlorine checks, Collection of Water samples under bacteriological & Chemical analysis as per the following Schedule.

To Check the availability of Residual chlorine in the drinking water.

1.Every day in the stations and colonies.

2.At Wayside stations whenever Health Inspector visits as per his Schedule of visit.

To check the bacterial growth in the water

1.Every Month at A-1/A/B Class stations & Colonies as per their schedule.

2.At Wayside stations once in two months as per Schedule of Health Inspector visit.

3.

Collection of water samples for Chemical Analysis:

To check the limits of the presence of the all elements such as fluoride, chloride, Nitrates and total dissolved solids (TDS) in the water.

1.Once in every Six months from the each available water source.

ØRegularly inspects the Food Establishments and Collects food samples under quality control to check the quality of the food to be supplied to the Rail users in the trains, at stations and colonies. Two Quality control food samples per month will be collected by each Health inspector from the food establishments located in his jurisdiction.

ØProvides clean, hygienic environment at station & colonies premises to the utmost satisfaction of the Rail commuters by adopting the following Sanitation Policy circulated under Lr.No: 99/TG-II/10/P/ Sanitation policy/pt, dated 24.09.1999 and other guidelines issued from time to time.

Sanitation Policy: 

“Cleanliness being the mission area, Indian Railways provide most hygienic environment at stations, at trains and in other Railway premises by using modern technology and highly motivated man power”

ØThe Maintenance of Cleanliness by Medical Department over Hyderabad division is ‘A-1’ & ‘A’ Class Stations along with attached colonies at Kacheguda, Kurnool Town and Nizamabad Stations. Railway Colonies located at Head Quarters area are South Lallaguda, North Lallaguda, Chilkalguda, Moulali and Rifile Range Colony.

ØThe cleanliness is being maintained departmentally as well as by outsourcing.

ØStation Cleaning at Kacheguda Station & Nizamabad Stations and Surface Cleaning at Kacheguda, South Lallaguda, North Lallaguda, Chilkalguda, Moulali and Rifile Range Colony is being maintained with departmental staff.

ØMechanized Cleaning services at Kurnool Town station is outsourced

ØThe Surface Sanitation and Door to door Garbage Collection & safe disposal activity is outsourced At Kurnool Town and Nizamabad Railway Colonies.

ØDoor to door Garbage Collection and safe disposal activity is outsourced at Railway colonies of Kacheguda, South Lallaguda, North Lallaguda, Chilkalguda, Moulali and Rifile Range Colony. The details of the out sourcing activities are as follows.
