The 73rd Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) Meeting was held under the chairmanship of Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway today i.e. 25th August, 2021. Twenty five (25) ZRUCC Members including nominated by State Govts., elected members from DRUCC (Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee) of six Divisions, Public Sector Undertaking, Principal Chamber of Commerce & Trade Associations, Registered Passengers Association, nominees of Hon’ble Minister of Railways under special interest category participated the meeting in virtual mode.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager informed that South Central Railway is according highest priority for safety. He also informed that Railways is committed to provide best possible passenger amenities and Rs 263 crores have been spent on up gradation of passenger amenities. He informed that 444 KMs new lines and Gauge conversion works have been completed during the last 5 years. 462 KMs of doubling and 3rd line works have been completed, 1476 route Kms have been electrified. 50 rakes are replaced with LHB coaches to operate 31 pairs of trains.
SCR is running Kisan trains to support the farmers from three states i.e Telangana, AP and Maharashtra, so far more than 1 lakh Tonnes of agriculture produce has been transported through 355 Kisan trains to different destinations across the country. In addition to this 10 crore liters of milk has been transported to Nations capital by running Doodh Duronto Special trains.
The General Manger stated that during covid-19 pandemic situation SCR has played a crucial role in supplying the Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) to meet the emergency medical needs and transported 8,000 MT of LMO through 104 Oxygen Express trains by providing green corridor. 68 stations have been developed as Adarsh Stations, 5 Major Stations in the zone have been up graded. SCR provided 103 lifts in 44 stations and 58 escalators at 21 stations.
Shri Gajanan Mallya assured the ZRUCC members that the suggestions and views expressed during the meeting will be given due consideration while formulating plans for improving amenities and services.
The members appreciated the efforts and performance of SCR despite of pandemic situation and its positive response to representations of members. The suggestions from various members include additional stoppage of express trains at important towns; setting up
of more additional escalators and lifts; improving the cleanliness at stations; extension of platforms; construction of ROBs/RUBs; expedition completion of new line and doubling projects etc.
Shri Prataprao Patil Chikhalikar, Hon’ble MP, Shri A.K.Jain, Addl. General Manager and Principal Heads of all departments participated in the meeting. Shri K. Mutyala Naidu, Deputy General Manager (General) and Secretary ZRUCC convened the meeting.
