Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway conducted a review meeting on safety, punctuality and freight loading of the Zone today i.e., 20th September, 2021 from Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Principal Heads of Departments; Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all the six divisions viz., Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded Divisions participated through web conference.
Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager mainly focused on safety of train operations in view of the recurring heavy rainfall over the country. He advised the officials to enhance the safety of tracks by preparing safety action plans and strengthening patrolling on tracks especially during weather warning. He also advised the officials to set up counseling sessions for points-men, track-men to be more vigilant in order to avoid untoward incidents. He instructed the field officials to ensure worksite safety requirements without fail. The General Manager also instructed the officials to monitor flood levels of Railway affecting Tanks and rivers/streams by maintaining liaison with Telangana and Andhra Pradesh state government officials.
The General Manager also reviewed the progress of on-going new line, doubling, tripling and electrification works over the Zone. In view of the on-going festival season and increased number of trains, he advised the officials to undertake necessary maintenance work expeditiously for relaxing the temporary speed restrictions wherever feasible, in order to avoid any impact on punctuality.
The General Manager also held a detailed review on freight loading performance of the zone. He advised the Business Developmental Units to focus on adding new commodities to the existing freight basket. Apart from this, the General Manager advised the officials to set up CCTV cameras at goods sheds and loading/unloading points to avoid wagon damages and ensure smooth running of freight trains. He complimented the officials for growth in loading and advised them to take up every opportunity to further boost the freight loading of the Zone.
