Vigilance Awareness Week Commences on SCR

- Shri Arun Kumar Jain, Additional GM administers Integrity pledge to all the Officers and staff

South Central Railway will observe Vigilance Awareness Week from 26th October to 1st November, 2021, as directed by the Central Vigilance Commission, New Delhi. As part of the same, Shir Arun Kumar Jain, Additional General Manager, SCR administered the integrity pledge o­n eradication of corruption in all spheres of public life to all the officers and staff today i.e., 26th October, 2021 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Principal Heads of the Departments and other senior officials also undertook the pledge. The Divisional Railway Managers of all six divisions and Chief Workshop Managers over the zone administered the pledge to the staff from their respective Divisional Headquarters and Workshops units.

The vigilance awareness week is observed to coincide with the birthday (31st October) of Sardar Vallabhai Patel who is credited with the setting up of administrative structure of Government of India post independence. The objective of the Vigilance Awareness Week is to promote integrity and probity in public life, generate public awareness and publicize the adverse impact of corruption and to bring down the menace of corruption to zero.

The theme for the current year’s Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) is “Independent India @ 75: Self Reliance with Integrity”.The Vigilance wing of SCR will organize programs during the week to cover Zonal Headquarters, six Divisions, three major Workshops and field units to route out corruption and unethical practices from the system and to bring improvements by utilizing latest technology. A virtual function o­n Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) will be held o­n 29.10.2021 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad in the august presence of Shri Gajanan Mallya, GM, SCR along with key note address delivered by the eminent speaker. Followed by the release of Vigilance Bulletin and prize distribution to the school children.

A week long special drive will be undertaken to create awareness among the public in general and the staff in particular against corruption by launching campaign through posters and personal counseling by Vigilance Officials at important public and staff contact areas in the field. The week long events include seminars/workshops/sensitization programs for SCR employees. A walkathon will also be held o­n 31.10.2021 at Railway Sports Complex, Secunderabad.

The VAW programs will be concluded o­n 1st November, 2021 with sensitization program to be held virtually with the participation of Contractors/Vendors and Customers to create awareness o­n grievances related to vigilance /normal.
