South Central Railway Celebrated the World Environment Day today i.e., 06th June, 2022. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-Charge), SCR was the chief guest on the occasion. Principal Heads of the Departments and senior officials also participated in the program. World Environment Day is celebrated on 05th June, 2022 across the globe; this year’s theme was #Only one Earth with focus on “Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature”. All the Departments presented report on their contribution towards the keeping the Environment clean and greener.
Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-Charge), SCR called upon each one of the Railway staff to plant one sapling, which is the need of the hour and help nurture its growth. He also urged that every individual to take oath for making the earth a better to live for our future generations. Make all efforts to enable and create a greener environment and produce cleaner energy. He advised to maximize the use of alternate forms of clean energy and minimize the carbon foot print in Railways. He complimented all the departments for playing a key role towards reduction of pollution.
The General Manager held a detailed review on various initiatives of South Central Railway with regard to development of Clean and Green Environment. Various initiatives of the zone towards the Clean and Green environment are; installed 09 water recycling plants at Secunderabad station, Hyderabad Station, Kacheguda Station, Nanded station, Guntur station, Rail Nilayam Zonal office, Central Hospital, Lallaguda, Lallaguda and Rayanapadu Workshop, Established 07 Sewerage treatment plants at Vijayawada (two), Zaheerabad, Electric loco shed, Vijayawada, Kazipet, Carriage Workshop, Tirupati and Basar. The zone is also planning for additional 24 Sewerage treatment plants at various locations. Zone has installed 04 Automatic Coach Washing plants at Secunderabad, Kacheguda, Hyderabad and Kakinada Port to minimise water consumption. Waste Compost Plants have been installed with total capacity of 575kgs for Environmental protection at major stations like Kacheguda, Hyderabad, Kazipet, Guntakal, Vijayawada, Kurnool City and Nizamabad.
Later, General Manager presented mementos and cash prizes to winners of drawing competition on the theme of #Only one Earth with focus on “Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature” for the children of Rail Nilayam employees as part of the World Environment event, which was held on 02nd June, 2022. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-Charge), SCR and other senior officials also participated in the signature campaign.
