Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble PM Lays Foundation Stone For Up-gradation of Dharmabad, Umri, Himayatnagar (Deccan) & Bhokar Railway Stations in Nanded District Under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

 Marking another major milestone in the transformative growth story underway in Indian Railways, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for 554 Amrit Stations and inaugurated/dedicated/laid foundation stone for 1,500 Road Over Bridges / Road Under Bridges (ROB/RUB) today i.e., 26th February, 2024. As part of it, Dharmabad, Umri, Himayatnagar & Bhokar Railway stations in Nanded district are being upgraded with an expenditure of Rs. 39.996 crores.

Dharmabad, Umri, Himayatnagar & Bhokar railway stations are important stations in the Nanded district, which have been taken up under Amrit Stations Scheme with a view to fulfill requirements of the ever-increasing demands of rail users. Over the years, the stations have seen a significant increase in passenger footfalls and handling of trains.

Accordingly, the stations are being taken up for development under “Amrit Station Scheme” at a cost of Rs. 9.58 crore for Dharmabad station; Rs. 7.72 crores for Umri station; Rs. 11.353 crores for Himayathnagar (Deccan) station and Rs. 11.343 crores for Bhokar Railway station. As part of it, a long-term master plan has been prepared envisaging development of modern facade, improvement to circulating area, free-flow of traffic facilities, Improvements to waiting halls and Provision of passenger friendly signages among others. o­nce completed, the station is all set to experience a new high in class and comfort, courtesy the upgradation plans in implementation under Amrit Station.

The idea is based o­n implementation of various critical elements as per a master plan that caters to ever increasing needs and enhanced patronage of the Railway stations. Facilities planned under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme include:

·Improvement of facades & aesthetically pleasing entrance porches.

·Betterment of station approaches to ensure smooth access by widening of roads

·Properly designed signages, dedicated pedestrian pathways, well planned parking areas, improved lighting etc.

·Creation of Landscaping, green patches

·Preference to local art and culture to create a pleasant experience for the rail users.

·Earmarking stalls for “One Station o­ne Product” scheme.

·Enabling Second Entry for Station Building and circulating area as per the feasibility.

·Construction of High-level platforms and adequate Platform shelters.

·Provision of passenger facilities and amenities like high Quality public announcement system, LED based station name boards, improvements to waiting halls, user friendly signages etc.
