Latest Developments:
1.Head On Generation (HOG):
With the technological up-gradation and continuous advancements in the field of power electronics, control system and power supply systems, Indian Railways has decided to adopt an energy efficient, pollution free power supply system for power supply to the coaches referred to as Head On Generation (HOG) for passenger trains.
At present, 44 pairs (22 SCR + 22 FR) of trains were taken over on Head On Generation (HOG) till date by 68 WAP7 locos of SCR fitted with Hotel load converters. Total HOG loco holding of SCR is 80.
2.Real-Time Train Information system (RTIS):
A Real-Time Information System (RTIS), developed in collaboration with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) & Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), is being installed on the locomotives for automatic acquisition of train movement timings at the stations, including that of arrival & departure or run-through.
Out of 818 Electric locomotives, 288 locos are provided with RTIS
3.Distributed Power Wireless Communication System (DPWCS):
Distributed Power refers to the physical distribution of locomotives at intermediate points throughout the length of a train. The DPWCS is conceived to provide coupling between locos through RF communication. The concept of the distributed power was developed to operate the long haul trains where operational considerations or economics required it.
At present, 12 WAG-7 locos and 7 WAG9 locos are fitted with DPWCS and are successfully working.
4.Crew Voice and Video Recording System (CVVRS):
CVVRS ensures effective and tamperproof video and voice recording of locomotive cab and track view for post event analysis.
In 55 locos of SCR (20 BZA, 15 KZJ & 20 LGD), CVVRS supplied by M/s. Kaamney Electronics Pvt., LTD. Noida have been commissioned by Mar’2021.
