GENERAL SERVICES (As on 01.04.23)

VISION

The vision of GENERAL SERVICES is to provide safe, reliable, sustainable and efficient Electric Power supply for all Railway installations along with provision of passenger and staff amenities over south-central railway.

ABOUT US

This wing of Electrical department deals with maintenance of uninterrupted power supply to all electrical installations.


General : Organization


DIVISIONS

1. SECUNDERABAD DIVISION

Secunderabad Division has 162 Nos of electrified stations with connected load of 45518KW to cater the needs of passenger’s and fright traffic requirements.

2. HYDERABAD DIVISION

Hyderabad Division has 96 Nos of electrified stations with connected load of 35537KW to cater the needs of passenger’s and fright traffic requirements.

3. VIJAYAWADA DIVISION

Vijayawada Division has 150 Nos of electrified stations with connected load of 35476KW to cater the needs of passenger’s and fright traffic requirements.

4. GUNTAKAL DIVISION

Guntakal Division has 155 Nos of electrified stations with connected load of 38380 KW to cater the needs of passenger’s and fright traffic requirements.

5. GUNTUR DIVISION

7. Carriage Repair Shop, Lalaguda (LGDS)

Carriage repair shops at Lallaguda with connected load 18258 KW is caters the requirements of repairs of carriages.

8. Wagon Workshop, Guntupalli (WWS/GTPL)

Wagon Workshop at Guntupalli with connected load 14314 KW is caters the requirements of repairs of carriages.

9. Carriage Repair Shop, Tirupathi (CRS/TPTY)

Carriage repair shops at Tirupati with connected load 8100 KW is caters the requirements of repairs of carriages.

Activities:

·Power supply arrangements to Railway installations i.e. Stations, Service buildings, quarters, Workshops, loco sheds and LC gates etc.

·Maintenance and operation of electrical installations such as Substations, D.G. sets, Lifts, Escalators, pumps, AC plants, Water coolers, high masts, solar power plants etc.

·Monitoring of energy conservation measures and implementation of new emerging technologies in energy conservation towards contributing ambitious renewable energy targets set by the nation.

Achievements:

Various measures are being undertaken for effective energy conservation with emerging technologies. They include the use of energy efficient lamps, provision of LED fittings, provision of BLDC fans, Inverter type ACs, VVVF drives, segregation of essential & non-essential loads at stations, automation of pumps, star rated equipment, electrification of Railway stations and gate lodges using non-conventional sources of energy, solar water heaters at Running rooms/Hospitals/Rest houses, Natural day light pipe systems at service buildings/workshops etc.
