Traction Rolling Stock Operation (TRSO)

Nanded Division

The Traction Rolling Stock Operations (TRSO) in Nanded Division commenced functioning on 2nd May 2025, following its bifurcation from the Mechanical (Power) Branch. This strategic reorganization was aimed at improving operational efficiency, reliability, and technical supervision of electric traction assets in the division.

TRSO plays a critical role in the seamless operation of train services, particularly in:

  • Timely arrangement and deployment of locomotive crew based on operational requirements.
  • Real-time crew management in response to fluctuations in train movements.
  • Enroute troubleshooting and technical support for electric/Diesel locomotives.
  • Deployment of Diesel locomotives during emergencies or in case of traction distribution failure due to natural calamities, ensuring uninterrupted train operations.
  • Timely fueling of Diesel Locomotives through Railway Consumer Depots (RCDs) to keep backup traction resources readily available.
  • Upgradation of crew rest facilities: All Running Rooms and Rest Rooms are being maintained as per 3-star standards, ensuring hygienic, safe, and comfortable accommodation for Train crew.
  • Supervision and coordination of rolling stock operations to ensure safety, punctuality, and efficiency.

These initiatives reflect the division’s commitment to ensuring reliable passenger services, efficient freight operations in line with demand forecasting, and robust technical preparedness under all operational conditions. By minimizing detentions and enabling smooth train operations, along with prioritizing crew comfort and welfare, the system is driven towards operational excellence and reliability.

The first Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (TRSO), Shri A. Ravi Teja, IRSEE, successfully initiated the operational framework of the TRSO wing, laying a strong foundation for its seamless functionality. Following his transfer, Shri S.S.R. Phani Kumar, IRSEE, assumed charge as DEE/TRSO/NED on 15th August 2025, ensuring seamless continuity in operations with a focused approach towards achieving technical excellence, enhancing operational reliability, and improving service efficiency. He is ably assisted by ADME/P/NED in these efforts. He places special emphasis on the effective execution of outsourcing activities, personally overseeing failure analysis, asset inspections, and systemic improvements aimed at achieving high standards of operational performance and reliability.
