INTRODUCTION

Medical department of Nanded Division provides comprehensive health care to Railway Employees and their family members & Retired employees (RELHS) and their family members & license porters through a net work of one 30 bedded Divisional Hospital at Nanded, One 25 bedded Sub Divisional Hospital at Purna and three health units at Jalna, Akola , Adilabad.

 

Aims & objectives:

To perform the following two important functions:

·Functions related to Medical treatment to Railway beneficiaries.

·Function related to industrial Medicine.

Functions related to Medical treatment to Railway beneficiaries:

Total comprehensive Medical treatment is provided by South Central Railway Medical department, Nanded Division

 

     A. Curative Health Care

    ·Primary level:

This service is in-house at all Health Units and DRH/NED. The services include regular health Checkup of employees, treatment of different common diseases, Immunization activities different screening camps, Multi-Purpose Health Drives and treatment common Pathological & Radiological investigations etc. DRH/NED & SDH/PAU runs 24 hrs. causality to attend all types of emergencies.

    ·Secondary level:

        Secondary care level is provided at DRH/NED. This hospital has got specialists in General Medicine, Surgery, O & G, Pediatrics, Pulmonology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Orthopedics, Anesthesiology and Pathology. They provide specialized service in their fields. An X-Ray machine, Pathology Laboratory and Ward with facility for monitoring is available in this hospital.

    ·Tertiary level:

       This service is available at CH/LGD/SC & through empanelled referral hospitals at NED, J, AWB & ADB.

B. Preventive Health Care

Preventive Health care forms a very important part of our service. They include regular health

Checkup of employees and their dependents like Multi-Purpose Health Drives, Health Check-up Camps & different screening camps like Cervical Cancer Screening, Breast Cancer Screening etc.

Awareness programs on life style diseases, health check-up of employees in different depots to detect occupational diseases is also done.

Food Samples are regularly collected and tested by FSO and Health Inspectors to maintain quality. Water samples are regularly checked for Residual Chlorine, Bacteriology & Chemical analysis.

 

C. Promotive Health care

This Railway is providing industrial medicine as per the need of the Indian Railway and also providing medical treatment to Railway beneficiaries. The system is a dynamic system which makes suitable changes as per the need to provide proper medical treatment to Railway beneficiaries.

Functions related to Industrial Medicine:

·To attend Railway accident & other untoward incidence.

·To provide emergency medical treatment to travelling sick passengers.

·Pre-employment Medical examination to allow only fit and suitable candidates to join the services.

·PME (Periodical Medical Examination) of serving employees to screen fit person to continue in those jobs which are related to safe running of the trains.

·Medical Boards and other medical certification of serving employees.

·Control on loss of Man-days on account of sickness (both normal & IOD)

·Safe water supply at Railway Stations & Colonies.

·A constant vigil is maintained to check on quality of drinking water made available at Railway Stations & Colonies

·Safe food supply at Railway stations

·       Ensuring Factory Act: Medical first aid is provided to all factories of South Central Railway as per Workman Compensation Act.

·Activities related to WCA are under taken on regular basis.

·Certification of dead bodies at Railway Station, Railway yards, Railway lines etc is being done on regular basis.

·Certification of perishable goods in Railway Station about their disposal is done as and when required.

 

DISASTER MANAGEMENT:

1. ACCIDENT RELIEF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT

a. One ARME Scale- I  at Purna

b. One ARME Scale-II at Jalna

c. One ARME Scale-II at Adilabad

2. AUGMENTED FIRST AID BOXES:

Augmented First Aid Box is available at Nanded Station and replenishment of the items is being done by the medical department.

·Augmented First Aid Boxes are available in five rakes of long distance train - T.No.12715/6 (Sachkhand Express) under Commercial department

·POMKAS (Portable Medical Kits for Accidents):

POMKAs are available at all the Health Units, Sub Divisional Hospital, Purna and Divisional Hospital, Nanded.

3. MANAGEMENT OF ACCIDENTS & DISASTERS:

To attend railway accidents, disasters promptly one scale-I ARME at PAU and two Scale-II ARME’s are available at Jalna and Adilabad with all equipment’s as per Schedule & recommendations of High Level Committee for management of accidents & disasters and are being inspected by Medical Officers once in a month.

Portable Medical Kit for accidents with all scheduled contents is kept at each Health Unit, Sub Divisional Hospital, Purna and at Divisional Hospital, Nanded to attend accidents.

First Aid Boxes are inspected & replenishment with all First Aid Material as per list of contents is being done every month and whenever required.

Updating of Medical facilities available alongside the track is done for every six months.

AMBULANCE SERVICES:

Hired Ambulances (multi utility vehicles): One each at Nanded , Purna & AK are available for shifting seriously ill / injured patients to hospitals & to attend the site of accidents & for management of disasters.

 

CLEANLINESS:

Cleanliness of all Class ”A” & ”B” type stations where health inspectors are posted is on mechanized cleaning contract awarded by EnHM Department and supervised by Health Inspectors .Cleanliness is being carried out with machines like-automatic Scrubber & Drier, High Pressure Jet Cleaner, Vacuum Cleaner and Flipper.

Full uniform & protective gears provided to Safai Karmacharies. For Mosquito control regular spraying of insecticides & regular fogging is done in colonies.

It is a pleasure to be online. We have tried to give all information about medical department of Nanded Division of South Central Railway to all Railway beneficiaries and our service providers.

Railway beneficiaries must carry UMID card for availing medical facilities.

In case of admission in Railway Hospitals, railway beneficiaries must carry a photocopy of recent pay slip or should submit it to hospitals next day.

Kindly fill separate forms for reimbursement claims of medical expenses if the treatment is taken in different hospital. Similarly fill separate forms for different periods of hospitalizations.

Reimbursement claims should be in triplicate.

If you have any suggestions or complaints, you are welcome. Complaint / suggestion Boxes are available in Hospitals as well as in Health Units.

DIVISIONAL RAILWAY HOSPITAL NANDED

30 Bedded New Divisional Hospital for Nanded Division at Nanded Station has been opened & functioning from 14.10.2009. Four doctors under CMS/NED are managing this hospital round the clock with following facilities:

Divisional Medical Stores for Nanded Division has been set up at Nanded in Divisional Hospital and drugs & surgical items received from Firms as per purchase orders of PCMM/SC & Sr.DMM/NED are distributed to Divisional Hospital/Nanded, Sub Divisional Hospital/Purna & other Health Units at Akola, Jalna, NED (DOC) and ADB. Drugs position is satisfactory.

Necessary drugs as per requirement are collected from other Divisional Medical Stores of SCR zone. Urgent requirement of Non Stocked drugs are being met through Local Purchase by through MOU shop/imprest cash & provided to Units.

SUB-DIVISIONAL HOSPITAL, PURNA

Sub-Divisional Hospital at Purna with 20 beds is functioning with indoor and investigation facilities with round the clock availability of Two Doctors, Nursing and paramedical staff for medical emergencies.

Medical Equipment’s - Life Saving Oxygen, ECG Machine, Nebulizer, Glucometer, and Suction Machine are available at Sub-divisional Hospital, Purna.

Blood and urine routine investigations are done through lab imprest.

One ARME Scale-I at Purna for attending railway accidents is available.
