285 - Vigilant Approach Must Be Adopted to Ensure Safety - Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, GM/SCR

South Central Railway (SCR) has reiterated the need for a vigilant approach to uphold safety in train operations. A comprehensive review meeting was held today, 28th July 2025, at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, chaired by Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, SCR. The meeting focused on critical safety aspects across the zone and was attended by all Principal Heads of Departments. Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) from Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, and Nanded joined the proceedings through video conference.

The General Manager directed officials to prevent water accumulation at Road Under Bridges (RUBs) during the monsoon season. He emphasized the installation of adequate pumping systems and water gauges. Safety measures at Level Crossing (LC) gates were also reviewed, with special attention to vulnerable locations. Officials were instructed to conduct regular inspections, counsel staff, and strictly enforce safety protocols.

To ensure safe and uninterrupted train operations during the monsoon, intensified patrolling was mandated across vulnerable tracks, bridges, and zones with heavy rainfall. The General Manager emphasized that all officers and staff must remain on high alert to prevent unsafe conditions.

The availability of fire safety items such as smoke detectors and fire extinguishers was reviewed in detail. Officials were advised to maintain adequate inventory to meet any emergency. Safety drives initiated by the Railway Board and the Zone were also assessed, with focus areas including track safety, signalling systems, mechanical assets, and monsoon preparedness.
