Mrs. Ity Pandey, an officer of the 1995 batch of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), has assumed charge as the PCCM (Principal Chief Commercial Manager), South Central Railway. She was a gold medalist in psychology from the University of Allahabad.
Before taking charge as Principal Chief Commercial Manager, SCR, Mrs. Ity Pandey served as Divisional Railway Manager, Bhusawal Division. She has also served as Chief Commercial Manager (Passenger Services) at the Central Railway Headquarters. She has previously held various significant posts in Central and Western Railways, including Chief Commercial Manager (Freight), Deputy Chief Commercial Manager, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Divisional Commercial Manager, and Assistant Commercial Manager. In addition to her expertise in the Commercial Department, Mrs. Pandey also has experience working in the Safety and Vigilance departments.
Mrs. Ity Pandey has introduced Rudra, a ‘hospital on wheels’ initiative, to provide accessible healthcare to railway workers and their families in remote areas when she was Divisional Railway Manager, Bhusawal,. This mobile clinic is changing healthcare delivery and offering timely medical services directly to those who need them the most.
She has been honoured with General Managers Award (twice), Ministry of Railways Award for excellence and Meritorious Services 2007 and Women Achievers Award 2016. She has been honoured with Rail Mantri Rajbhasha Rajat Padak on 17/6/’25. She was instrumental in setting up of the first Unreserved Ticketing System in Mumbai. As Claims Officer she was instrumental in setting claims for all victims of Elphinstone Road stampede, an episode which was not covered under the Railway Act for compensation, without involvement of any Lawyer. As Chief Commercial Manager (Freight) wrote a Book named ‘Riding the Freight Train’, a comprehensive overview of Freight Operations over Western Railway. She has been recognized amongst the 24 Bureaucrat Change-makers of 2024 in the Bureaucrats Annual List 2024. This honour reflects her visionary leadership and the relentless efforts in enhancing Passenger Services and Freight efficiency.
She is a Marathon Runner and the only lady Civil Servant to complete the Comrades Marathon in South Africa in 2023 and completed a grueling 88-kilometer distance in 11 hours and 47 minutes.
