Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway conducted a detailed review meeting on Safety of train operations across the Zone today i.e., 11thAugust, 2025 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad along with Shri Satya Prakash, Additional General Manager, SCR and Principal Heads of Departments. Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all the six divisions viz., Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded Divisions participated through video conference.
While addressing the meeting, the General Manager instructed the officials to conduct regular mock drills on fire safety measures to ensure safety in train operations. He instructed officials to adhere all the safety precautions while stabling the empty coaches in the stabling yards. He also instructed to ensure proper closure of doors, removal of batteries and secure all the electrical accessories in the condemned coaches while stabling in the yards and strengthen the surveillance. He instructed the officials to prepare appropriate action plan to identify the gaps and rectify them on priority basis to prevent fire incidents. Further he instructed DRMs to make an action plan for quick disposal of condemned coaches.
Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava emphasized on the safety of track, he instructed officials to conduct drives to cut the tree branches near the Over Head Equipment (OHE) in view of monsoons. He also instructed to intensify the drives to identify the water logging points near the bridges, at ballast retaining walls and in-between tracks. Drainage system at vulnerable locations to be strengthened and it should be monitored regularly for proper flow of rain water, he added.
The General Manager also examined the safety action plans pertaining to different departments including Mechanical, Engineering, Electrical and Signal & Telecommunication and reviewed the availability of safety equipment such as fire extinguishers etc. While discussing on the crew working hours, he instructed officials to make thorough action plan focusing to provide proper rest to the on-duty crew at proper time and interval.
