Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra flagged off the inaugural service of H.S.Nanded – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Vande Bharat Express (Extension of Train No. 20705/20706 Jalna – Mumbai CSMT- Jalna Vande Bharat Express up to Hazur Sahib Nanded) through video conference today i.e., 26th August, 2025. Shri Ashokrao Shankarrao Chavan, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha & Ex-Chief Minister of Maharashtra; Dr. Ajeet Madhavrao Gopchade, Hon’ble MP, Rajya Sabha; Shri Vikram Vasantrao Kale, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Council and other dignitaries graced the occasion from a function held at Nanded Railway station. Shri Satya Prakash, Additional General Manager, SCR; Shri Pradeep Lakshmanrao Kamle, Divisional Railway Manager, Nanded Division and other senior Railway officials were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble CM stated that with the commencement of the Vande Bharat Express, Nanded is now closer to Mumbai. This train will open the gateway of prosperity for Marathwada region, he said. The increased coach composition and enhanced seating capacity will benefit a large number of passengers. As a spiritual and educational hub, Nanded will now enjoy modern, high-speed connectivity which is a major step towards regional development, he added.
Shri Ashokrao Shankarrao Chavan, Hon’ble Member of Parliament stated that the launch of the Nanded – Mumbai Vande Bharat Express is a step towards a progressive and developed Maharashtra. He stated that if the journey time can be reduced further, this train will be able to reach Mumbai in seven hours. Along with the upcoming operationalization of the Nanded airport, this train will significantly boost tourism, trade, and connectivity in the region, he said.
Dr. Ajeet Madhavrao Gopchade, Hon’ble MP stated that the Vande Bharat Express is a priceless gift to the people of Nanded. He thanked the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi; Hon’ble Railway Minister, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw and Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Devendra Fadnavis for this initiative. He urged the citizens to take full advantage of this modern and comfortable train.
Shri Vikram Vasantrao Kale, Hon’ble MLC expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the people on the launch of the Nanded–Mumbai Vande Bharat Express. He requested for early completion of Nanded – Bidar and Nanded – Latur railway lines, which will connect Nanded with Pune and further accelerate educational and economic growth in the region.
Earlier, Shri Satya Prakash, Additional General Manager presented the welcome address, he stated that this is the first time Vande Bharat Express is being run from Nanded in Marathwada region connecting the State Capital, Mumbai. This will provide fastest travel option with reduced travel time between these two stations and helps in strengthening the ties between the people of this region, he said. Shri Pradeep Lakshmanrao Kamle, DRM, Nanded Division presented the vote of thanks.
The H.S Nanded – Mumbai CSMT Vande Bharat Express will cover a distance of 610 Kms between Nanded and Mumbai within a short span of 9 hours 25 minutes. The train consists of 20 coaches (Executive – 02, Chair Car - 18) with a combined seating capacity of 1440 seats. The train provides convenient train timings, facilitating day time travel from Nanded, Parbhani, Jalna, Aurangabad and other towns’ to reach Mumbai by Noon and also return by evening / night. The train will run 6 days in a week (except Wednesday from Nanded and Except Thursday from Mumbai).
