Development of Rail Transportation facilities in Marathwada region was a long cherished dream of the people. The project has been accorded priority by the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s office and being regularly monitored by Hon’ble Minister for Railways, Shri Piyush Goyal for early completion.
Doubling of Parbhani – Mudkhed existing line has been sanctioned in the Year 2012-13 for a distance of 81.4kms with an estimated cost of Rs 390.60 Crore. The expenditure incurred on this project during the last 3 years is Rs.244 Cr. Out of which Rs.55.03 Crore has been spent in the current financial year (i.e., April, 2018 to Nov, 2018).
ØOut of the proposed doubling work on a total of 81.4 Kms route from Parbhani to Mudkhed, the Railway line for a distance of 17 kms stretch between Parbhani and Mirkhal section has been commissioned in the Month of June, 2017.
ØOther stretch between Mudkhed - Mugat (9.3kms) has been completed along with certification of Commissioner of Railway Safety and commissioned for Train services on 10th October, 2018.
ØLimbagaon - Nanded - Maltekdi (14.10Km) section is also completed and commissioned on 17thOctober, 2018 to facilitate the Train movements for the convenience of passengers. With this out of 81.4 Kms total route, 40.4 Kms stretch has been completed.
Works under progress:
ØThe Balance section between Mirkhal – Limbagaon(30.9Kms) and Maltekdi – Mugat(10.0) for a total length of 41.00 KM section is targeted for completion by March, 2019.
Once the doubling project between Parbhani – Mudkhed completed, it would pave sound foundation for improving goods traffic and passenger traffic in Marathwada region in the near future and it will boost the industrial development also. While around 35-40 trains are currently passing on the rout with single line working, the train movements are expected to be increased significantly after the doubling work is completed. Parallel to the doubling works, the electrification of entire Nanded division is also taken up on full swing and targeted for completion in a span of three years.
All the Major works like land acquisition, cable works, construction of Major and Minor bridges, Road Under Bridges, Relay rooms and Cabins have been completed. Passenger amenities like high level plat forms, benches, water booths etc are completed at all the stations, except few track related minor works like insertion of glued joints, track lining etc. 3 minor bridges, one Road Under Bridge works is on progress.
