South Central Railway handled a record number of passengers during the season with meticulous planning of Special Trains, augmentation of additional coaches to clear the huge additional rush of passengers due to summer season and General Elections in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States. Number of passengers travelled from Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Kacheguda and Lingampalli Stations in twin cities has increased significantly. Secunderabad Railway station recorded the travelling of around 96,000 unreserved passengers and 28, 000 reserved passengers totaling to 1, 24, 000 passengers on 10th April,2019, which is the second highest passenger turnout in the history of the station. Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR complemented the relentless efforts of officers and staff which have ensured smooth passage of all the trains and comfortable journey to the passengers.
Going in to the details, a record number of 2, 41,046 Unreserved Passengers & 97, 512 reserved passengers totaling to 3, 38, 558 passengers travelled from Secunderabad Railway Station to various destinations during 8th, 9th and 10th April, 2019. During the same time 52,785 Unreserved Passengers & 17, 446 reserved passengers totaling to 70, 231 passengers travelled from Hyderabad Railway Station; 79,596 Unreserved Passengers & 5786 reserved passengers totaling to 85, 382 passengers travelled from Lingampalli Railway Station and 59,560 Unreserved Passengers & 4,817 reserved passengers totaling to 64, 377 passengers travelled from Kacheguda Railway Station. Totally 4,32,987 Unreserved Passengers & 1, 25, 561 reserved passengers totaling to 5, 58, 548 passengers travelled to their respective destinations from the four important railway stations of the city.
South Central Railway has run 23 special trains during the last three days (i.e., 8th, 9th & 10th April, 2019) along with 151 regular trains per day to various destinations. The special trains include 06 Jansadharan trains and 17 special fare trains have been run and around 35 additional coaches have been attached to various regular trains from twin cities towards Vijayawada, Kakinada, Narsapur, Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam Road, Tirupati etc.
Similarly, SCR has already announced running of 07 Jansadharan Special Trains and 10 Special Fare Trains on 11th, 12th, 13th & 14th April, 2019 from Kakinada, Narsapur, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Machilipatnam to twin cities on the days when people are expected to return back to twin cities. Appropriate action plans are made to facilitate traffic in the return direction also, as per the demands of the situation.
Effective measures taken to handle rush
v Running of Jansadharan & Special Trains assessing the additional rush from time to time with continuous monitoring of Divisional Officials.
v Both Headquarters and Division Officials of Commercial, Security and Operating department camped at the stations to manage and facilitate the travelers.
v Frequent announcements have been made to inform the passengers on running of Special Trains & Jansadharan Special Trains
v Display of information regarding train arrival/ departure, platform, coach position etc through electronic guidance boards
v Additional Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel have been deployed to guide and safeguard the passengers.
v 7 additional counters have been provided to render 24-hour service to meet the extra rush along with additional 5 ATVMs and CoTVMs.
v Information of Jansadharan specials & special fare trains has been disseminated through Print, Electronic and Social Media.
v Supplementary catering arrangements have been made to facilitate the passenger needs.
v Ticket checking staff and RPF personnel have been deployed near gates and foot over bridges to ensure continuous regulation and movement of passengers.
v Maintenance of punctual running of regular and special trains through continuous monitoring has been done for smooth flow of traffic.
