General Manager Conducts detailed Review of Preparedness for “NIVAR”


Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway conducted a review meeting o­n safety, freight loading and punctuality of the Zone today i.e., 23rd November, 2020 from Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad through Video conferencing. Additional General Manager and Principal Heads of Departments; Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all the six divisions viz., Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded Divisions participated through web conference.

Shri Gajanan Mallya conducted a detailed review of all the safety measures to be observed in view of approaching cyclonic storm NIVAR, which is likely to get intensified into a cyclonic storm. The Cyclonic storm is expected to bring heavy rain to Chennai and neighboring districts. The General Manager advised all the divisions to make a Systematic action plan o­n Safety and implement the same for smooth and hassle free functioning of train services. He also advised all the officials to monitor the situation from time to time.

He also reviewed the Improvement in loading and maintaining Punctuality. He advised the officials o­n the incidents of loose shunting at the sidings which is resulting in minor Safety problems. He informed the officers to counsel the staff to bring awareness and educate them o­n incidents which could have been avoided.

The General Manager expressed his happiness over the increase in freight loading corresponding to previous month and advised to continue the momentum by running of Kisan Rails, Doodh Durontos, Parcel Special trains etc., The General Manager also informed the officials to maintain the freight trains average speed and advised the officials to continue their efforts to improve the freight loading and punctuality of the Zone. In addition, he reviewed the track maintenance works and elimination of LC’s by construction of Road under Bridges (RUB’s) directed the officials to adhere to all the guidelines.

The General Manager also reviewed o­n the performance of Business Development Units (BDUs) which helps the zone in further enhancement of freight loading and generates additional revenue to the Railway. He advised the Nominated BDU Officers to hold meetings with various freight customers and inform the advantages in transporting their goods through Railways.
