South Central Railway celebrated the National Constitution Day all over the Zone today i.e., 26th November, 2020. At Rail Nilayam, Headquarters of the Zone, Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR readout the Preamble of the Constitution along with officers and staff who assembled. The General Manager along with Additional General Manager and Principal Heads of the Departments initiated a signature campaign at Rail Nilayam as part of the awareness programs on the occasion of Constitution Day.
Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas) is celebrated in India on 26 November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly of India on that day in 1949. The Constitution came into effect on 26 January 1950.
The Government of India declared 26 November as Constitution Day in 2015, in tune with the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Constitution. Carrying this initiative forward, the Union Government decided to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the adoption of Constitution of India on 26th November, 2019 and hold year long activities culminating on 26th November, 2020.
As part of the celebration of Constitution Day, an extensive campaign is being undertaken on the Railways, besides reading out the Preamble of the Indian Constitution at Zonal and all Divisional Headquarters, Workshops including the offices and other establishments today.
Display of banners and posters on Fundamental duties of citizens have been displayed at Railway stations/trains to bring awareness on the Constitution Day amongst the passengers. A pledge has been administered to all the employees working at field units and offices. Dissemination of information on fundamental duties of citizens has been highlighted through the social media platforms. Quiz contests, debates have been organized by Railway training institutes.
