Secunderabad Division of South Central Railway has been awarded 6 Prizes in competitions of “6th Garden Festival 2020” conducted by Department of Horticulture, Telangana. Garden Festival is organized by Horticulture Department of Telangana every year for the past 6 years to encourage various stakeholders, organisations, institutes& Residential colonies situated in Telangana State forthe development of green cover across their premises. Applications are invited for the competitions on 10 different categories like Landscape gardens maintained by State/Central Govt institutions, Private companies, Defence organizations, Gardens maintained by Govt undertakings, corporations, educational institutions, individuals, Farm houses, Podium Gardens etc.
The “6th Garden Festival 2020” was conducted by Horticulture department of Telangana this year, wherein 214 entries were received statewide for all the 10 categories. In this, all the 6 entries made by Secunderabad Division have been awarded 6 prizes, out of which 5 entries got 1st prizes. The categories under which prizes were awarded are –
ü 1st Prize for Hyderabad Railway Station Vertical Garden
ü 1st Prize for Nursery, Sanchalan Bhavan (DRM office Secunderabad)
ü 1st Prize for Garden, Sanchalan Bhavan (DRM Office Secunderabad)
ü 1st Prize for Residential Garden, DRM Bungalow No.1
ü 1st Prize for Kitchen Garden, DRM Bungalow No.1
ü 2nd Prize for Landscape Garden, Sanchalan Bhavan (DRM office, Secunderabad)
Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR has specially appreciated Shri Anand Bhatia, DRM, Secunderabad and other Railway officials for showing keen interest on improving greenery in Office surroundings which will help in creating pollution free atmosphere besides providing fresh air by improving oxygen levels. It also helps in reducing carbon footprints and creating environment friendly atmosphere. Special interest has been taken by DRM, Secunderabad in selecting different varieties of plants right from the stage of seeding including large variety of ornamental plants and seasonal flowers.
