South Central Railway has bagged three awards in“Telangana State Energy Conservation Awards-2020” presented by Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO), Ministry of Energy, Government of Telangana. These awards have been presented today i.e., on 20th December, 2020 by Shri G. Jagadish Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Energy, Government of Telangana at Akshara Hall, Dr. MCRHRD Institute of Telangana, Hyderabad.
Ramagundam Railway Station has been bestowed with GOLD Award in “Railway Station Buildings” category, While Khammam Railway station got SILVER Award in the same category. Lekha Bhavan (SCR Accounts Building) has been bestowed with SILVER award in Government Buildings category. These awards are presented for the buildings/ establishments located in the State of Telanganafor systematic and serious attempts for efficient utilization of energy, conservation of energy, research and promotion of energy efficiency during the year 2019-20.
Ramagundam station building has a total built up area of 11,900 sq. mtrs with Air-conditioned area of 166 sq. mtrs. The total electrical connected load of the building is 176 KW. The Building is 100% LED LIT. The specific energy consumption of the Ramagundam station building for 2019-20 has come down from 42.69 to 25.90 Kwh/sq. mtr(25% reduction over 2018-19).
Khammam station building has a total built up area of 24870 sq. mtrs area with Air-Conditioned area of 112sq. mtrs. The total electrical connected load of the building is 259KW. The station Building is 100% LED LIT. The specific energy consumption of Khammam station has come down from 16.03 (2017-18) to 13.49 (2018-19) and further reduced to 12.10 (2019-20). Specific Energy consumption has been reduced by 24 % during the last 3 financial years.
Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO) is promoting these awards and named as Telangana State Energy Conservation Awards. These awards are presented for 9 different categories. The stake holders are selected on the basis of outstanding achievements and contribution in the field of energy conservation and management in that particular category. These Awards are decided not only on the basis of quantitative achievements but also considering the various other factors such as innovative techniques and technologies being adopted. The commitment towards energy management, environment friendliness, Renewable Energy Generation / Purchase, organizational set-up to promote energy conservation in the unit etc are among other areas taken into consideration for evaluation of these awards.
On this occasion, Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway congratulated the Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, South Central Railway, Divisional Railway Managers, Secunderabad& Hyderabad and other railway staff who have contributed their part in achieving these energy conservation awards.
