Tiruchanur Station upgraded to next level

to decongest Tirupati Station

-Operational Infrastructure facilities have been developed for converting the station to a Crossing station from Halt station

-Augmenting of Passenger Amenities is under progress and nearing completion

Tiruchanur Railway station of Guntakal Division, which is located between Tirupati and Renigunta, has been upgraded as crossing station and commissioned for train operations from yesterday i.e., 26th December, 2020. Earlier, the station was only ‘C’ class station (halt station) with neither any provision for providing crossing facilities in train operations nor having full-fledged passenger amenities. Now, in the first stage Infrastructure facilities have been developed for facilitating smooth operation of train services. Non-Interlocking works have been completed successfully for the period of 8 days without major disruption to train services. Commissioning of Tiruchanur station as a B class station will ease out the congestion at the famous pilgrimage destination Tirupati.

The development of Tiruchanur station as new crossing station has been sanctioned in the year 2016-17 and the latest sanctioned cost is of Rs 33 Crores including the development of passenger amenities.

The infrastructure facilities provided at Tiruchanur as part of upgradation are –

•Two more lines have been constructed. With this, now there would be 2 main lines and Two loop lines.

•Out of these 4 lines, 3 lines have been developed as Platform lines to facilitate stoppage of Passenger trains.

•New panel has been provided with 48 signal routes

•19 points & crossings have been created with due connecting facility to the proposed 3rd line between Tirupati and Tiruchanur.

In the next stage, in addition to enhancing the operational infrastructure facilitates at the station, provision of upgraded Passenger Amenities for the comfort of passengers is under progress which includes –

ØCover over Platform for platform lines

ØDevelopment of station building with all the passenger amenities and facilities

ØTwo underpass ways to connect platforms 1, 2 & 3.

Development of Tiruchanur station as B class station will boost the handling of train operations in the vital section between Renigunta and Tirupati stations. It also helps in improving the punctuality of train services.

Speaking on this occasion, Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR has complimented the Officials of Guntakal Division and construction organisation for successful completion of the works for development of Tiruchanur station as new crossing station without hampering the train services. He stated that commissioning of Tiruchanur station as B class station will improve train operations in a big way and will decongest both Tirupati & Renigunta stations to the considerable extent.
