SCR Celebrates 65th Railway Week


Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager stated that the staff and officers of South Central Railway have o­nce again rose to the occasion and rendered extraordinary services beyond the call of duty to achieve the best performance during the financial year 2019-2020.The General Manager addressed Railway Officers and Staff at the 65th Railway Week Celebrations held virtually today i.e., 30th December, 2020 from Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, Addl. General Manager, Ms. Chandrima Roy, Senior Deputy General Manager and Chief Vigilance Officer participated. The Principal Heads of the Departments and Divisional Railway Managers also participated the program virtually and presented the awards to individual awardees, group award winners and Shield winners from their respective locations. Railway week celebrations are held annually during the month of April but due to Covid-19 pandemic situation, now the same has been celebrated today to commemorate the first train run o­n 16th April, 1853 o­n Indian soil.

Speaking o­n the occasion, Shri Gajanan Mallya stated that the Zone has registered gross earnings of Rs.13,771 Crore for the financial year 2019-20. While 109.5 Million Tonnes of freight loaded from the zone generated Rs. Rs.9,029 Crores of revenue, carried 363 million passengers contributing in Rs. 4,119 Crores of revenue from passenger earnings. New Railway lines to the length of 60 Kms have been completed and commissioned in the last financial year. Further, another 218 kms of Doubling/Tripling works Kms have been completed in the last year, which includes completion of major Doubling projects between Kalluru – Guntakal, Guntur – Tenali and Parbhani – Mudkhed sections.In addition, the zone’s first ever quadruple section between Moula Ali – Ghatkesar for the length of 12 kms has been commissioned during the year.Simultaneously, 153 Kms of Railway lines have been electrified during the last year, giving a major boost to Mission Electrification. Passenger amenities & facilities is another area which was given prime importance during 2019-20 and an amount of Rs. 150 Crores have been spent towards this purpose.

GM’s Over All Best Performance Efficiency Shield Presented to Secunderabad & Hyderabad Divisions jointly.

The General Manager’s Over All Best Performance Shield is presented to Secunderabad & Hyderabad Divisions jointly by Shri Gajanan Mallya. The Shield is received by Shri Anand Bhatia, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division and Shri N.S.R. Prasad, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division.

The General Manager also presented other 33 Zonal Level Efficiency Shields to various Divisions and Work Shops of the zone. Secunderabad Division received Best Scrap Disposal Shield (jointly); Best Diesel Traction Shield; Best Loading Effort Shield; Best Medical Shield; Electrical Shield; Operating Shield, Best maintained long distance train shield and Best Maintained ART(Jointly). Hyderabad Division received Best Maintained DEMU/MEMU/EMU Shed; Best Division for Elimination of Level Crossings; Best Environment and House Keeping Shield; Security Shield and Transformation Shield.Vijayawada Division received Hindi (Rajbhasha) Shield; GM’s Shield for Cleanliness(Stations); Best maintained running room; Mechanical Shield; Finance (Accounts) Shields: Civil Engineering Shield (jointly) and Best Maintained MRV(Jointly). Guntakal Division received Best School (Railway High School, English Medium, Guntakal); Best Energy Conservation(Elec) Shield; Best Maintained MRV(Jointly); Signal and Telecom Shield: HRD(Personnel) and Civil Engineering Shield(Jointly). Guntur Division received Best Utilization of Track Machines; Best Maintained ART(Jointly); Best Scrap Disposal Shield (jointly); Best Grievance Redressal Machinery; Best Safety Shield(Jointly) and Best Commercial Shield. Nanded Division received best Track Shield; Best Innovations Shield and Best Safety Shield(Jointly). Construction wing, Vijayawada received Best Survey & Construction Shield. Rayanapadu Work Shop received Innovations Shield(Jointly); Mechanical Work Shop Shield and Best Stores Depot Shield.

During the 65thRailway Week Celebrations 173 individual awards and 11 group awards to the officers and staff have been presented in recognition of their meritorious contribution.
