Soya Bean Crude Oil (Degummed Soya) has been loaded and transported by rail from Kakinada New Goods Complex Siding of Vijayawada Division in Andhra Pradesh to Haldia Dock Complex Siding in West Bengal. A total 49 BTPN Tank Wagons with approximate weight of 2700 tonnes has been loaded and dispatched today i.e., 6th January, 2021.
Degummed soya crude is extracted from Soya Beans and will be refined as edible soya bean oil. The extracted degummed soya crude is transported to Haldia to refine and market the edible soya bean oil. Generally, Degummed Soya bean crude of small quantities are being transported by Road. But, with the marketing efforts of the Vijayawada Division officials, now, Degummed Soya bean has been diverted from roadways to Rail transportation.
With the clear focus on freight segment, now, Railways is continuously monitoring the movement of freight trains right from loading to unloading so as to reduce the transit time. Special emphasis has been given by the newly constituted Business Development Units (BDU) to create awareness among the traders/ cargo operators about the benefits being offered by Railways for transportation through Rail.
The efforts of BDUs yielding good results over the Zone by capturing different segments of traffic apart from retaining the regular traffic for transportation through Rail. This has resulted in freight Customers showing interest in transporting their products through rail and assured to offer the loading on regular basis.
Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR expressed his happiness with the sustained efforts of Officers and staff of Vijayawada Divisions in capturing new segment of traffic to SCR freight basket and maintaining the sustained loading. He advised the customers to avail the rail transportation as the loading by Rail is a safest, fastest means for customers including hassle free handling. He also instructed the officials to regularly monitor the supply of wagons and train movement so that the customers can transport their products without any hitch.
