Diesel Loco Shed, Moula-Ali Receives Lean Six Sigma Certification

- For enhancement of safety, quality and reduction of waste

Diesel Loco Shed, Moula-Ali, Hyderabad Division has earned the distinction of being the first Loco Shed in South Central Railway to achieve the ‘Lean Six Sigma Certification’ awarded by M/s Anexas, Europe o­n 26th January, 2021. Diesel Loco Shed, Moula-Ali was also the first to achieve Integrated Management System (IMS), 5S, Energy Management Systems and Green Co ‘Gold’ certifications previously. The application of Lean Six Sigma relies o­n team work which allows enhanced quality and efficiency. The focus of Lean Six Sigma is about speed, improvement in performance and reduction of waste.

As an endeavor for continual improvement of safety, reliability and reduction in maintenance cost, a team of twenty engineers from Diesel Loco Shed, Moula-Ali worked o­n eight projects o­n the systems of Diesel Locomotives and DEMUs. They have been awarded with Green and Black belts which indicate achieving significant improvement in performance and quality by expert implementation of the Lean Six Sigma application.

The International Association for Six Sigma Certification (IASSC) is a professional association dedicated to growing and enhancing the standards within the Lean Six Sigma Community. IASSC is an independent third-party certification body. It is a Member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) comprised of Government agencies, Organizations, Companies, Academic and International bodies and individuals, the ANSI represents the interests of more than 125,000 companies and 3.5 million professionals. ANSI is the official U.S. representative to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
