171 Staff, Officers, 13 Group Awards, 35 Shields
Awarded at 66th Railway Week Program
Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR addressed Railway Officers and Staff at the 66th Railway Week Celebrations held virtually today i.e., 16th April, 2021 from Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, Addl. General Manager, Ms. Chandrima Roy, Senior Deputy General Manager were present on the occasion. Principal Heads of the Departments and Divisional Railway Managers participated in the program virtually and presented the awards to individual awardees, group award winners and Shield winners from their respective locations. Railway week celebrations are held annually during the month of April to commemorate the first train ran on Indian soil i.e., 16th April, 1853.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Gajanan Mallya stated that though the financial year 2020-21 was witness to unprecedented challenges due to Covid-19 pandemic, the remarkable and extra-ordinary efforts put in by team SCR helped to earn major achievements for the Zone. The Zone has added a record 308.8 Kms track to its railway network, which is perhaps the highest addition in a financial year history of SCR. This includes commissioning of 42.5 Kms of New Railway lines, 161.5 Kms of Double Lines, 60.4 Kms of Third Lines and 44.4 Kms of Gauge Conversion works. Along with it, a staggering 750 track kms of our railway lines were electrified under the Mission Electrification of Indian Railways. He stated that the Zone came up with a variety of new services such as Indian Railway’s first exclusive Milk Special Train i.e., Doodh Duronto, Indian Railway’s first Parcel Express to Bangladesh etc., during the last financial year which led to registering the best ever parcel revenue of Rs. 108 crores. The Business Development Units have yielded good results in diversifying SCR’s freight basket. Around 22 new streams of traffic started in 2020-21 contributed to Rs. 438 crores in revenue helping in the Zone achieving Rs. 8498 Crores in freight revenue and transporting 95.9 Million Tonnes.
Speaking on safety, the General Manager stated that Safety has always been an overriding priority for SCR. To strengthen it, the Zone has eliminated 81 Manned Level crossing gates and interlocked 13 Level Crossings. The first of its kind indigenously developed Train Collision Avoidance System was further extended to 34 stations and additional 321 Kms.
The General Manager added that SCR continues to lead in the Digital initiatives. It is among the first Zones over Indian Railways to launch the Hospital Management Information System. The Zone has also been at the forefront in taking eco-friendly initiatives. In this direction, all the identified 63 railway stations of the zone have been certified with ISO 14001 and 37 pairs of trains are being operated with HOG technology. Further, plantation of 18 lakhs saplings done by the Zone is double the target set by Railway Board. SCR has received 3 National Energy Conservation Awards and 3 Telangana State Energy conservation awards for the year 2020.
GM’s Over All Best Performance Efficiency Shield Presented to Guntakal & Vijayawada Divisions jointly.
The General Manager’s Over All Best Performance Shield was presented to Guntakal & Vijayawada Divisions jointly by Shri Gajanan Mallya. The Shield was received by Shri Alok Tiwari, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal Division and Shri P.Srinivas, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division.
The General Manager also presented other 34 Zonal Level Efficiency Shields to various Divisions and Work Shops of the zone.
Secunderabad Division: Received GM’s Shield for Cleanliness(Stations); best Track Shield; Best Energy Conservation(Elec) Shield; Best Maintained ART, ART/Kazipet (Jointly); Security Shield; Best Mechanical Shield; Best Commercial Shield; Operating Shield; Civil Engineering Shield; Best Bridges(Engg.) Shield(Jointly) and Best Innovations Shield(Jointly).
Hyderabad Division: Received Best Maintained DEMU/MEMU/EMU Shed Shield (ELS/Moula-Ali); Best Division for Elimination of Level Crossings; Best Safety Shield(Jointly) and Best Works(Engg.) Shield.
Vijayawada Division: Received Best Utilization of Track Machines Shield; Best Maintained ART. APART/Vijayawada (Jointly); Best Maintained MRV, MRV/Vijayawada (Jointly); Best maintained long distance train shield, Kakinada Port Deport (Jointly); Best Environment and House Keeping Shield; Signal and Telecom Shield: Electrical Shield and Finance (Accounts) Shields.
Guntakal Division: Received Best School Shield (Railway High school/EM/GTL); Best maintained running room (Dhone); Best Diesel Traction Shield; Survey & Construction Shield (Dy. Chief Engineer. Construction/Guntakal); Best maintained long distance train shield, Tirupati Depot (Jointly); Best Mechanical – Workshops Shield(Tirupati); Best Grievance Redressal Machinery(Jointly); Best Medical Shield; Best Safety Shield(Jointly); HRD(Personnel) and Best Bridges(Engg.) Shield(Jointly)
Guntur Division: Received Best Utilization of Track Machines Shield; Best Scrap Disposal Shield; Best Loading Effort Shield and Best Grievance Redressal Machinery(Jointly).
Nanded Division: Received Hindi (Rajbhasha) Shield and Best Maintained MRV, MRV/PAU (Jointly).
Lallaguda Work Shop: Best Innovations Shield(Jointly).
Tirupati Carriage Repair Shop: Received Best Stores Depot Shield (Jointly) .
Rayanapadu Work Shop: Received Best Stores Depot Shield, M&G/Rayanapadu(Jointly).
During the 66th Railway Week Celebrations 171 individual awards and 13 group awards were presented to the officers and staff in recognition of their meritorious contribution. The entire program was conducted virtually following the COVID protocols.
