· 22 Oxygen Express trains deliver 2,026 MT of LMO through 113 Tankers
· While it took 23 days to achieve the first 1000 MT of LMO, the next 1000 MT has been achieved within only 8 days
Indian Railways – the Lifeline to the Nation – continues its pivotal role in the Nation’s Service through the speedy delivery of Medical Oxygen to the State of Telangana. Overcoming unexpected challenges, Railways have successfully delivered 2,026 MT of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) to the State of Telangana till date i.e., 02nd June 2021.
Significantly, the time taken for delivering the Medical Oxygen to the state has been reducing continuously. While it took 23 days to achieve the first 1,000 MT of LMO, the next 1,000 MT has been achieved within 8 days. A total of 22 Oxygen Express have been received at Sanath Nagar in Hyderabad for meeting the Medical Oxygen requirements of the State. These trains have combinedly brought 113 tankers filled with Medical Oxygen.
In order to meet the Medical Oxygen requirement of the State in an effective manner, the Oxygen Express trains have been operated from both from the Eastern and Western parts of the Nation. While 16 Oxygen Express trains have come from Odisha, another 4 trains have come from Jharkhand followed by 2 trains from Gujarat.
Indian Railways have been operating these trains along the Green Corridors so that the Medical Oxygen requirements of the State can be met at the fastest possible time frame and with minimum Enroute detentions. Multi-disciplinary teams have also been formed to ensure that the Oxygen trains reach at the least possible time. As a result, the average time taken to transport these trains has been over 60 kmph.
Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR complimented the Officers and Staff who have contributed towards delivering over 2,000 MT of Medical Oxygen to the state of Telangana. He said that these trains are being operated with a highest sense of urgency so as to ensure that Medical Oxygen to the States reaches in fastest possible time frame. He advised the team to continue same level of monitoring so as to provide hassle-free and seamless operation of these trains.
