Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR Holds Review Meeting on Safety

Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway conducted a review meeting o­n Safety, Freight loading, Infrastructure developmental works and prevailing COVID situation, provision of medical facilities etc., today i.e., 10th June, 2021 from Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Principal Heads of Departments; Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all the six divisions viz., Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded Divisions participated through web conference.

Shri Gajanan Mallya emphasized o­n enhancement of safety at Railway Level Crossings by construction of Road over Bridges, Road under Bridges and Limited height subways etc. He conducted the review of safety with a special focus o­n safety at Level Crossings. He also insisted upon adhering to the safety aspects at work spots and deputing adequate staff to assist o­n safety for staff physically working in the field. He advised to strengthen the track patrolling and take up all monsoon precautions during the ensuring season.

The General Manager stressed o­n conduct of the special safety drives and advised officials to take up safety drives and spread awareness among Road users of safety precautions and rules to be followed at Level Crossings. He also advised to distribute pamphlets, send bulk messages through SMS, counselling of road users and prominent display of banners & posters at Level Crossings to create awareness amongst road users as part of the observance of International Level Crossings Awareness Day (ILCAD).

The General Manager held a detailed review o­n freight loading performance of the Zone including Parcel traffic. He discussed o­n feasibility of running more Kisan Rails for the benefit of farmers and traders and instructed to focus o­n new areas to improve freight loading over the Zone. He instructed the DRMs to make action plans for growth in freight loading especially materials like Coal, Cement, Granite, Gypsum, Fly ash etc. He conducted a detailed review o­n the efforts of Business Development Units (BDU’s) and strategies being implemented to improve loading and new traffic avenues.
