PRESS RELEASE
PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICE, SECUNDERABAD - 500 071
No.299/2021-2220-07-2021
Secunderabad
SCR to resume Unreserved Train Services from 19th July 2021

- These trains will be run on par with Express Trains

- Passengers to benefit from faster speed of the trains

In line with the gradual and phased resumption of train services, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, South Central Railways will be resuming its Unreserved train services, especially for the benefit of intra-state passengers. Importantly, these trains will be operated on par with Express trains i.e., they will be operated as Unreserved Express trains so as to benefit the passengers in terms of reduced travel time.

South Central Railways have undertaken major track strengthening works over the last one year. These have resulted in the enhancement of the maximum permissible speed at which trains can travel over its network at several sections. To pass on the benefit of these track enhancement works to the passenger in terms of reduced travel time, these trains will be operated as Unreserved Express Train Services.

Further, these Unreserved train services will be introduced in a phased manner over the next week starting from 19th July 2021. A total of 82 train services will resume operations as part of this. These 82 train services are spread over the entire network of South Central Railways, so that they will be able to meet the travel needs of all commuters over its jurisdiction.

Passengers will be able to purchase their tickets through all the mediums – both at the booking counters in the stations as well other non-physical interactive mediums like UTS App (online), ATVM (Automatic Ticket Vending Machines), CoTVMs (Coin Ticket Vending Machines) etc. In view of the COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of maintaining physical distance, Passengers are encouraged to use the mediums such as UTS App and ATVMs, thereby by avoiding the queue at the booing stations. Further, the passengers will also have the facility of buying season tickets as well.

Shri. Gajanan Mallya appealed to all passengers to follow the COVID protocols while both at the stations and also in the trains. He said that, while these train services are being resumed to meet the travel demands of the commuter passengers, adequate precautions like compulsorily wearing face masks, maintain physical distance, frequent sanitization, etc should be practiced for the safety of all rail passengers.
