Take Proactive Action to Ensure Safety During Monsoon Season - Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR

- General Manager conducts safety review meeting with all DRMs

Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway conducted a review meeting o­n strict observation of Monsoon precautions, Safety, Freight loading and punctuality today i.e., 26th July, 2021 from Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Principal Heads of Departments; Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all the six divisions viz., Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded Divisions participated through web conference.

Shri Gajanan Mallya reviewed the safety aspects of the zone, emphasizing mainly o­n monsoon precautions, in view of the o­ngoing monsoon season. He instructed the officials to intensify patrolling at identified vulnerable sections such as bridges, Limited Height Subway and locations with heavy rainfall to prevent unsafe conditions. He informed the concerned officials to ensure inspection, cleaning and maintenance of side water drains, catch water drains and waterways to avoid flooding of tracks and ensure smooth running of trains. He also instructed the officials to intensify field inspections by officers at divisional and headquarters level and advised the field officials to sensitize the staff to be more vigilant and alert so as to take timely action wherever required. The General Manager directed the officials to strengthen track patrolling and ensure supervision of track maintenance works. He advised the officials to maintain liaison and co-ordination with State Government officials o­n flood situation.

The General Manager also took stock of the patronage for recently introduced unreserved Express services and it was observed that the average passenger traffic for these trains is found to be more than 78,000 per day till date.

The General Manager also held a detailed review o­n freight loading performance of the zone, he complimented the officials for growth in freight loading and instructed to focus o­n new areas of traffic to ensure further improvement. The General Manager also conducted a detailed review of speed enhancement o­n the newly commissioned lines and routes. He informed the officials to accord priority to punctuality and advised the officials to continue their efforts to further improve the punctuality of train operations over the Zone.
