Two SCR Railway Protection Force Officials Bestowed With Prestigious Indian Police Medal

Two Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of South Central Railway have been awarded the prestigious Indian Police Medal o­n the occasion of 75th Independence Day - 2021. The awardees are Shri K.S Hara Prasad, Divisional Security Commissioner (DSC), Guntur Division and Shri K. Benaiah, Inspector, Secunderabad Post, Secunderabad Division.

Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR expressed his happiness at the recognition received by the RPF personnel of the Zone, he commended their excellence and dedication towards duty and exuded confidence that the RPF will continue to excel in its primary duty of providing security to rail users and property.

1. Sri K.S Hara Prasad, Divisional Security Commissioner (DSC), Guntur Division, South Central Railway:-

Sri K.S Hara Prasad, joined RPF as Sub-Inspector and elevated to the rank of Divisional Security Commissioner with his incessant endeavor by excelling at all levels. He is endowed with courage and grit, he fought battles against Railway crime, in that he unearthed and busted several criminal gangs resulting in recovery of Railway material worth Lakhs of rupees. With the experience gained over a span of 33 years of his service, soon after taking over charge as Divisional Security Commissioner, Guntur o­n 01st July, 2020, he guided and supervised the Post Commanders in successful detection of high valued operational crime cases and booking of touts. Apart from the above, under his personal supervision and directions, 21 cases have been booked under section 143 of the Railways Act with the arrest of 22 touts and seizure of 481 railway journey tickets valued Rs.4.46 lakhs.

2. Shri K. Benaiah, Inspector, Secunderabad Post, Secunderabad Division, South Central Railway:-

Sri K. Benaiah, joined the force as Sub-Inspector in the year 1996 and is presently working as Sub-Inspector, Secunderabad Post. During his 25 years of service, he has endeavored and led from the forefront which resulted in busting of numerous criminal gangs including crime against Railway property with cent percent recovery. He was also instrumental in nabbing inter-state offenders indulged in cardamom thefts. His flawless strategies in co-ordination with Government Railway police and local police were responsible in apprehension of a good number of Inter State Passenger belonging offenders with recovery of property worth several lakhs, besides deterrence. During the plying of Shramik specials in Pandemic, he evinced great earnestness in tackling operational rigors effectively. His Good Samaritan deeds like rescue of children, retrieval of passenger luggage, helping elderly women and children earned appreciation.
