SCR Targets Elimination of More than 100 LC Gates During the Financial Year 2021-22


Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway conducted a review meeting o­n safety, freight loading and punctuality of the Zone today i.e., 24th August, 2021 from Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Principal Heads of Departments; Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all the six divisions viz., Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded Divisions participated through web conference.

The General Manager specially focused o­n the progress of elimination of targeted Level Crossings (LCSs) over the Zone for the financial year 2021-22. To ensure hassle free momentum of trains and safety, SCR has embarked upon the task to eliminate more than 100 level crossing gates. The General Manager reviewed the division wise position of elimination of LC gates by construction of Road Under Bridges (RUBs) and Road over Bridges (ROBs). Up to the month of July, 2021, construction of 17 Level crossings gates over the zone have achieved significant progress among which 14 are RUBs and 3 are ROBs. The General Manager appreciated the progress of works and further instructed the Divisional Railway Managers to expedite the construction of ROB/RUBs to eliminate level crossing gates so as to achieve the target set by Railway Board.

Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager also reviewed the safety aspects of train operations o­n the Zone. In view of normalcy of train operations being restored, General Manager instructed the officials to intensify safety inspections at all points, crossings, newly constructed sites and vulnerable sections to ensure safety of passengers and smooth running of trains. He informed the concerned officers to strictly adhere to the schedule and ensure that all the aspects of the inspection are duly covered. He also informed the officials to carry out inspections at training institutes to review the quality of training and check the knowledge of staff directly associated with train operations.

The General Manager advised to strengthen simulated training of loco operation staff to avoid untoward incidents like signal passing at danger etc. Further, he informed the staff to lay emphasis o­n compliance of safety drives involving concerned departments and directed the officers and supervisory staff to ensure that worksite safety requirements are followed without fail. He also held a detailed review o­n freight loading performance of the zone. He instructed the officials to focus o­n new areas of traffic to further improve the freight basket of the zone.
