SCR Launches Swachhata Pakhwara (Cleanliness Drive)

- Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager administers pledge and Launches Signature Campaign at Rail Nilayam;

South Central Railway has undertaken the Swachhata Pakhwara (Fortnight) Cleanliness drive as part of the Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat program being organized from 16th September to 02nd October, 2021. Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager administered the Swachhata pledge to officials and staff today i.e., 16th September, 2021 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad.

A Signature Campaign was also launched o­n the occasion by the General Manager to bring awareness o­n ‘Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat’ among the public, Rail users and Railway fraternity. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, Additional General Manager, Principal Heads of Departments and other senior officials were also present.

The drive will be undertaken by involving participation of all stakeholders while duly observing social distancing norms. The ensuing Swachhata Pakhwara will see a host of activities including Swachh Awareness, cleanliness dialog with public, clean trains, clean stations, community day, clean work place, clean residential premises, clean food, clean water, clean toilets etc.

As part of the same, all the six divisions of the zone took part in the Swachhata Awareness campaign today from their respective divisional offices and Railway stations. Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal and Nanded divisions undertook Swachhata awareness rallies, tree plantation programs, distribution of masks and sanitizers, Nukkad Natak to bring awareness o­n discouraging the use of single-use plastic etc., Several NGOs also took part in the awareness campaigns by distributing cloth bags to passengers and participating in the tree plantation programs.

Speaking o­n the occasion, Shri Gajanan Mallya advised all the officials and staff to actively participate in the Swachhata campaign. He said that we should change our mindset and think positively about maintaining cleanliness in our surroundings and should inculcate the same culture among our family members and neighborhood. He reiterated that each individual should take responsibility to desist from littering and also not allow anyone to do so. He remembered the dream of Mahatma Gandhi about not o­nly an independent India but also that of a neat and clean Nation.

During the Swachhata Pakhwara program period several activities will be accorded priority which includes Special emphasis o­n cleanliness of stations and approaches to stations, Steps to implement innovative initiatives in cleaning activities, Curbing the use of single use plastic and discouraging the use of plastic, Developing information, education and communication dissemination o­n better hygiene related to Covid-19 and Cleanliness drive at stations, trains, depots, yards, Railway colonies and other units.
