RPF Raising Day Celebrated on South Central Railway




- Planted saplings, Blood Donation Camps conducted and Passenger awareness programs held o­n the occasion

Railway Protection Force (RPF), South Central Railway celebrated its 37th Raising Day in all the Six Divisions viz., Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal and Nanded of the Zone o­n 20th September 2021. The Raising Day is celebrated to commemorate the conferring of Armed Force status o­n Railway Protection Force o­n par with the other Paramilitary forces of the Union of India. It is o­ne of the most prestigious celebrations, as it highlights the performance, morale, discipling effectiveness and overall status of the Force.

As part of the Raising Day Week, RPF has organized several events over South Central Railway. RPF Staff conducted plantation drives, Suraksha Sammelan, blood donation camps and Passenger Awareness campaign in trains. RPF staff took part in Swachhata Abhiyaan as part of the o­ngoing Swachhata Pakhwara to promote a greener and cleaner environment.

Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR appreciated Railway Protection Force staff for their dedication and devotion towards duty. o­n the occasion of Raising Day General Manager, advised the RPF Officers and staff to strive towards ensuring fool-proof safety and security to Railway Passengers. He emphasized upon the magnificent past of the Force and also stated that the future of RPF is equally glorious. Shri Gajanan Mallya urged the staff to be courteous towards the Rail users and to be proactive in providing assistance to weaker sections of the society at railway stations and in trains. He complimented Shri G.M.Eswara Rao, Principal Chief Security Commissioner, SCR and his team.

Raising Day also turns out to be an excellent platform to project the achievements by the Divisional units of RPF. The following are the achievements of Railway Protection Force, South Central Railway during the current year 2021-22 is detailed below:

Highlights during the current financial year i.e., April’2021 to till date:

➢ Rescued 411 runaway children and handed over them to Child Help Line and Parents.

➢ 6 Ganja smugglers were apprehended while they were transporting 382 Kgs. Ganja, worth Rs.13.61 lakhs in 20 instances and handed over to Government Railway Police and Excise Department.

➢ 62 persons were fined against Tobacco Act with a fine of Rs.11.08 lakhs for the year 2021

➢ Assisted Commercial department in detection of 59,620 ticketless travelers and an amount of Rs.3.11 Crores was realized as fine in the year 2021, so far.

➢ The RPF is also actively pursuing its drive against alarm chain pulling and causing punctuality loss to the railways without reasonable cause and prosecuted 760 persons in the year-2021 so far.

➢ In 2021, 283 offenders and 02 Railway Employee so far arrested under the provisions of Railway property (Unlawful Possession) Act for having committed theft of Railway Property with recovery of property worth Rs.36.00 lakhs.

➢ 161 Cases of Theft of Passenger belonging were detected by RPF and recovery of stolen property of value Rs.65.46 Lakhs with an arrest of 139 offenders.

➢ As many as 252 Persons were apprehended who are unauthorizedly vending in Railway premises. o­n 772 occasions passenger left behind luggage were recovered from trains and railway premises worth Rs.171.22 lakhs.

➢ 20 Touts booking unauthorized railway tickets apprehended with seizure of live tickets valued Rs.15.49 lakhs. The offenders were prosecuted under relevant sections of Railways Act.

➢ 8001 persons were fined for littering in Railway premises and an amount of Rs.16.58 lakhs were fined for the year 2021.
