“Sewa Diwas” held to commemorate 152ndBirth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

The152nd Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated in a befitting manner o­n South Central Railway. “Sewa Diwas”, Community Service Day was observed o­n the entire network across all Railway stations. Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR participated in Sewa Diwas programs along with Officials, Staff & Volunteers at Lallaguda and Kacheguda Railway Station today i.e., 02nd October, 2021.

The General Manager participated in tree plantation and shramadaan cleanliness drive program, along with officials, volunteers and safaikarmacharis at South Lallaguda Railway colony, near Railway Mixed High school and Central Railway Hospital Lallaguda. He also inspected the colony and the garden developed during Swachhta Pakwada. During the program, General Manager presented awards & appreciation to Safaikarmacharis & staff for actively participating in the fortnight cleanliness campaign.

Later, the General Manager visited the Kacheguda Railway station went around the entire railway station to interact with rail users. He also campaigned amongst the passengers to encourage them o­n the need to maintain cleanliness, stay away from using plastic bags and other such items besides ensuring proper usage of rail utilities and facilities. A skit performed by the railway employees focusing o­n the dangers of plastic wastage and the need to stop using the same was held o­n the occasion, which caught the attention of the crowd of rail travelers at the station.

Shri Gajanan Mallya also planted a sapling to mark “Green Rail Station” campaign which entailed planting of saplings at various places in and around Kacheguda Railway station. He also inspected the Health Unit, waiting halls, circulating areas, food outlets etc and stressed o­n the need for railway staff to be pro-active in leading the ban o­n single use plastic. General Manager appreciated and complimented all the officials and staff who actively participated in Swachhta Pakhwara, fortnight cleanliness campaign
