For the First time Cotton Bales loaded from Raichur Station of Karnataka

For the first time, the Raichur railway station of Karnataka state has commenced loading of new commodity Cotton Bales through Goods train, apart from loading of regular commodities like rice and cement. The freight train consisting of 21 wagons has been dispatched to Bangaon station of West Bengal today i.e., 4th October, 2021 covering the long lead distance of 1871 Kms.

The Business development Unit (BDU) of Guntakal Division has been making continuous efforts in expanding the railway freight basket of the Zone. The team has been holding regular meetings to make the freight customers aware of the benefits of transporting by Railways. The customers are also being briefed about the regular Policy initiatives being taken at the Board level for their benefit.

To encourage the customers who cannot load the Full train load composition of 40 wagons, they are being permitted to load in Mini Rakes, consisting of 20 wagons or more duly extending the benefit of train load rates. Taking the advantage of this, Freight customers have come forward to load the commodity of Cotton Bales to West Bengal, which is also helpful to Railways in terms of freight traffic generation with additional revenue.

Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manger, SCR complimented the team of Officers and Staff of Guntakal Division for getting new stream of traffic for the Railways. He instructed Zonal and Divisional BDUs to continue their efforts towards tapping new areas of freight business for the Railways. He also advised the freight customers to transport their products through Railways which is economically beneficial, apart from being safe, speed and environment-friendly.
