Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway conducted a review meeting on safety, freight loading and punctuality of the Zone today i.e., 13th October, 2021 from Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Principal Heads of Departments; Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all the six divisions viz., Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded Divisions participated through web conference.
During the meeting, the General Manager launched an e-book on environmental sustainability to promote green environment and clean energy while making Indian Railways a global leader in sustainable mass transportation. The book aims to promote energy conservation measures in Railways and provide clean and hygienic environment to all Rail users. The electronic book contains a cumulative account of various measures taken up by SCR towards green environment. The book comprises of topics such as environmental sustainability measures, solid waste management, housekeeping activities, afforestation and other green initiatives etc., The book is also aimed to build in house capacity to set up an effective environment management system.
The General Manager appreciated the efforts and team-work of the officials and staff in compilation of the e-book. He stated that the e-book will help in creating awareness about the efforts of SCR and will also encourage more innovate measures in protecting the environment.
Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager also reviewed the safety aspects of train operations on the Zone. He instructed the officials to take necessary precautions in view of the forthcoming winter season. He advised the concerned officials to intensify safety inspections at all points and crossings to prevent recurrence of any unsafe conditions. He also instructed the staff to be more vigilant and strictly follow the safety guidelines.
The General Manager also held a focused review on the progress of elimination of targeted Level Crossings (LCSs) over the Zone for the current financial year. He reviewed the progress of works and further instructed the Divisional Railway Managers to expedite the construction of ROB/RUBs to eliminate level crossing gates so as to achieve the target for the current financial year. The General Manager held a detailed review on freight loading performance and coal transportation on the zone. He advised the concerned officials to further improve the coal loading to ensure uninterrupted supply to power plants in view of the crisis situation with depleting coal stocks all over the country. He also advised for operating more number of long haul trains like “Trishul” & “Garuda” for expedited coal supply across the nation.
