To showcase India’s rich cultural heritage and magnificent historical places to the people of India and the world, Ministry of Railways has come up with a new concept of Theme based Tourist Circuit Trains named Bharat Gaurav Trains. In this regard, to explain the modalities and feasibilities, South Central Railway held an interactive meeting (including virtual) with Professionals and Potential Service Providers of the Tourism sector on 07th December, 2021 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad.
During the meeting, Dr R. Sudarshan, Chief Commercial Manager (Passenger Services), SCR and nodal officer for Bharat Gaurav trains, explained the features of the policy through presentation highlighting on eligibility criteria, registration process, applicable charges, operational and maintenance practices etc, for operating theme-based Tourist Trains, to all the stakeholders and participants. Later, an interactive session with the stakeholders was held wherein clarifications were given by the Railway Officials for the queries raised. Further, for ease of management, a single point contact and Customer Support Unit details were shared with the stakeholders, which are available on www.indianrailways.gov.in.To give flexibility, the Private players have been given the option of deciding their business model for operating Bharat Gaurav Trains including themes, routes, itinerary, tariff and other attributes connected with the model.
The major stakeholders of Tourism sector who participated in the meeting are Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC); Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC); Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD); Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), South Central Zone; Travel Agents Association of India and other service providers of Tourism sector.
Shri R. Dhananjayulu, Principal Chief Operations Manager; Shri G. John Prasad, Principal Chief Commercial Manager; Shri B. Nagya, Chief Passenger Transportation Manager; Shri U. Subba Rao, Chief Rolling Stock Engineer and other officials participated in the meeting.
