-Review meeting held on freight loading and safety of train operations
Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-Charge), South Central Railway conducted a review meeting on freight loading and safety of train operations over the zone today i.e., 10th May, 2022 along with Principal heads of the departments at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Divisional Railway Managers of all six divisions i.e., Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded participated in the meeting through video conference.
Shri Arun Kumar Jain held a detailed review on freight loading performance of the zone. He laid primary focus on enhancing the mobility of goods trains transporting coal to meet the demand of thermal power stations in super critical category. He directed the supervisors to conduct frequent inspections at sidings and monitor the loading as per the time schedules in order to avert delays. Further, he advised the team to identify bottlenecks in the freight transport routes and improve the speed in the sections. The General Manager appreciated all the divisions for performing well and advised them to take up every opportunity to further boost the freight loading of the zone.
Further, the General Manager discussed on the safety of train operations over the zone. He reviewed various action plans to ensure safety and avoid untoward incidents. In this regard, he instructed the officials to impart regular training to all the safety staff such as conducting field level seminars, simulated training for the loco pilots and assistant loco pilots, etc. In addition, he also advised the officials to set up individual counseling sessions for the field staff on adherence of safety guidelines, so that they avoid taking recourse to any shortcuts, while strictly following the safety procedures.
Further, the Business development units of all the six divisions gave a brief presentation on the new initiatives undertaken by the divisions to include new commodities in the freight sector so as to further improve the freight loading. The General Manager also instructed the officials to enhance the supervision and surveillance at all station premises to ensure compliance of safety requirements without fail.
