South Central Railway has bagged five All India Performance Efficiency Shields for the last year. The zone has attained National recognition for demonstrating exemplary performance in various spheres of activity during the previous year. The shields will be presented by Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister for Railways along with Shri Raosaheb Danve, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways and Smt. Darshana Jardosh, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways at function which will be held on 28th May, 2022 at Rail Auditorium, Bhubaneswar. The shields will be received by General Manager (In-Charge), SCR and the concerned Principal Heads of the Departments, SCR.
SCR will receive five National performance efficiency shields viz., Security Shield, Comprehensive Heath Care Shield (Jointly with West Central Railway), Civil Engineering Shield (Jointly with Western and Central Railways), Stores Shield (Jointly with Western Railways) and Civil Engineering Construction Shield (Jointly with North Western Railways).
Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-charge), SCR expressed his happiness and congratulated the team of officials and staff for their contribution which led to SCR obtaining five All India Performance Efficiency Shields. The General Manager advised the team to focus on new areas and innovations to further enhance the performance across the zone.
· Security Shield
The Security shield is bagged by South Central Railway. To enhance security of the passengers, CCTV cameras were installed at 58 Railway stations across the zone in the financial year 2021-22. Further, several initiatives were undertaken to ensure secure journey of women and children. Special care was ensured in the rescue and rehabilitation of missing and run away children. In addition, RPF keep constant surveillance at major Railway stations to ensure passengers safety.
· Comprehensive Heath Care Shield
The Comprehensive Health Care Shield is bagged by South Central Railway and West Central Railways jointly. To enhance the health and medical facilities of the staff during the uncertain pandemic times, SCR had taken several proactive steps to meet the medical needs of the employees. COVID-Care centers were set-up at 5 hospitals across the Zone. Simultaneously, Vaccination drives were taken up on a massive scale to protect the staff against the adverse impact of COVID. In addition, oxygen Generation plants were set-up at several Railway Hospitals across the zone. The Zone is also leading in the implementation of Hospital management Information System (HMIS).
· Civil Engineering Shield
The Civil Engineering Shield is jointly bagged by South Central Railway, Western Railway and Central Railway. To enhance safety in its operation, SCR has undertaken several initiatives. Notable among them have been elimination of Manned Level Crossings (71 in 2021-22), rehabilitation of bridges and maintenance of the railway tracks. In fact, the Zone has consistently been among the top Zones across IR with respect to the performance in maintenance of the tracks by Track Machines.
· Stores Shield
Stores shield is jointly bagged by South Central Railway and Western Railways. SCR has been a pioneer among Indian Railways in making efforts to achieve Scrap-free status, for which the Zone has been consistently receiving the Railway Board’s Efficiency Shield for Materials Management. This is the 11th consecutive time that SCR has been bagging the efficiency shield in Material Management. The Zone has been implementing the ‘Mission Zero Scrap’ project, which ensured that no scrap was accumulated either for a month or a truck load of quantity without processing it for disposal.
· Civil Engineering Construction Shield
The Civil Engineering Construction shield is jointly bagged by South Central Railway and North Western Railway. South Central Railway has been giving prime importance to infrastructure addition to its rail network. In fact, the Zone has scaled new heights in the last financial year 2021-22 by adding 344 kms to its rail network. This 83 Kms of new lines, 197Kms of Double lines and 64 Kms of Third lines.
