PR No. 260 - SCR Celebrates 8th International Day of YOGA – 2022

· Yoga enables Unity of Body, Mind and Soul - Shri Arun Kumar Jain

South Central Railway celebrated the 8th International Day of Yoga at Indoor Stadium, Railway Sports Complex, Secunderabad today i.e., 21st June, 2022. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-Charge), Shri Rajiv Kishore, State Chief Commissioner, Bharat Scouts & Guides and PCPO/SCR, Principal Heads of Departments, Officials, Staff and Scouts & Guides took part in the Yoga activity. Live streaming of the program was also relayed in SCR’s Social media platforms to enable others too to witness & participate through virtual mode.

Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India led the International Day of Yoga Celebrations from the heritage city of Mysuru in Karnataka wherein he said Yoga is not o­nly for an individual but for the entire humanity. In line with it, this year’s theme for the International Yoga Day has been aptly kept as “Yoga for Humanity”. Team SCR joined the Hon’ble Prime Minister. Yoga Day was also celebrated at all the six divisional hqrs viz., Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded, Hyderabad and Railway establishments all over the Zone as part of the program.

Speaking o­n the occasion Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-Charge) stated that, Yoga improves strength, balance and flexibility to handle day-to-day problems, including in work area. Yoga helps in developing inner peace and leads to less stress levels. He advised the officials and staff of South Central Railway to adopt the teachings of Yoga and practice them regularly. He called upon the gathering to practice Yoga in everyday life to attain good health, sound thinking and spiritual discipline.

As part of o­ngoing Regional Level Yoga Fest (Southern Region), Bharat Scouts & Guides, South Central Railway state is hosting the Regional Level Yoga Fest from 19th to 23rd June, 2022 at Railway Sports Complex, Secunderabad. Around 200 scouts / guides / rovers / rangers / yoga teachers & leaders attending the Fest too joined for the mega yoga day celebrations and practiced Yoga Asanas. Later, the fest participants took out a rally to create awareness & promote Yoga for Humanity & practice yoga in daily life.

Shri Murari Mohan, renowned Yoga Teacher and State Co-ordinator for Art of Living Society, Hyderabad conducted the sessions along with Scouts & Guides experts with Asanas, Pranayama, Meditation and Sankalpam etc., A pledge was also administered to the participants for practicing Yoga in daily life.
