PR No. 345 - SCR Reviews Monsoon Preparedness over its Network

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-Charge), South Central Railway has conducted a detailed review meeting o­n monsoon preparedness in view of heavy rains across the zone today i.e., 11th July, 2022 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad along with Principal Heads of Departments. Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all the six divisions viz., Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded Divisions also participated in the meeting through web conference.

The General Manager instructed officials to strengthen patrolling at all identified vulnerable sections such as tracks, bridges and locations with heavy rainfall to prevent unsafe conditions. He also informed the concerned officials to ensure cleaning and maintenance of side water drains, catch water drains and waterways to avoid flooding of tracks and ensure smooth running of trains. He advised the Divisional Railway Managers to check the working of Anemometers fixed at critical locations and follow the guidelines in ensuring safety.

The General Manager emphasized o­n strict vigilance with regard to track maintenance during heavy rainfall, officials and supervisory staff should monitor the situation keenly during the night time also. He advised the officials to make continuous announcements at Railway stations about any changes in train schedules to keep the travelling public updated. The General Manager also directed the staff to send daily report o­n conditions at vulnerable sections so that proactive action can be taken to ensure safety.

Further, the General Manager directed the officials to intensify track patrolling and ensure supervision of track maintenance works. He advised the officials to keep close watch o­n weather warning reports and maintain liaison with State Irrigation department during heavy rainfall. In addition, a booklet o­n monsoon precautions has been supplied to all the concerned officials and staff at Headquarters and Divisional level. Later, Divisional Railway Managers gave a brief presentation o­n identified vulnerable sections in their divisions and precautionary measures being undertaken to avoid untoward incidents.
